Picked up my G Spyder - pics & questions
Discussion
Hi All
Finally picked the car up from the dealership, once again a good experience & fingers crossed it continues (Lambo St Gallen). Fabulous trip home through typical Swiss switchback roads & TUNNELS
Some initial Q's, hope somebody can help!
1. Running in: doesn't appear to be any special requirements from what the dealer said, and nothing in the manual (apart from bedding in new tyres & brakes). They gave me some Agip Sinta 2000 top up oil, which is fully synth I believe. Puzzling, I'm used to using a multigrade with a new engine for the first few k's. Any ideas? All run in at the factory? (but then not subject to loads surely if on the dyno only). In meantime, driving "considerately" with varying revs, no loads, bursts of acceleration, which seems to work fine with our speed limits here in CH...
2. Cleaning: what do you guys use for bodywork, hood, interior leather & wheels? And most importantly, to get rid of fly goo?
3. Checking levels, eg. coolant & oil - seems a fag raising the rear bodywork! I suppose you get used to it...(not really a Q)

Nice car.
Heard they test the crap out of them at the factory so no need to baby it at all.
Have no idea to any of the other questions you asked. If the dealer gave you the oil I guess it's cool. YOu could always try ringing another dealer to be sure.
But I'm sure even in the UK different dealers offer different oil.
Enjoy!

G spyder and those roads
The 1K service was scrapped some time ago so obviosly no real issues were occuring and no requirement for the old oil change either!
Top up oil I was recommended to use by Lambo is Fully Synth 5W-40, found it did use a bit more oil in the first 1K miles but then settled down to about 1l per 1K ish.
Cleaning flies off? I just use warm water!
Enjoy!

For cleaning the body and getting rid of fly debris you probably want to use warm water with a ph neutral shampoo. For shampoo ive always used Zymol Autowash which smells great and is not to expensive . Its made with natural products and oils so will not damage your paint finish or remove any wax. Swissvax car bath is another alternative. For wheels i would use either the shampoo used on the body, or a non acidic wheel cleaner such as p21S gel or zymol wheel cleaner. The swissvax wheel cleaning kit would have evrything you need. The swissvax leather care kit will have all you need for cleaning leather. Hope this helps, great car, enjoy it!
