Hi guys can anyone help. The band holding the two halfs together of my steering rack stop; has snapped. Does anyone know of an alternative to the factory fitted strap as it is nothing i have ever seen. Jubilee clips are to wide and bulky and zip ties too weak.

thanks Craig.

stainless steel tie wraps will do the trick but you will need the tightening tool to make it tight

you can get a metal band that is used to hold a drive shaft boot in place - probably perfect for what you want.

good idea gadge but the boot ties only lock down a few mil so you need to find a boot of near the same size

craig its best to go to your local electrical trade counter for the stainless ties or screw fix but they are expensive as they come in packs of 100.i have some spare ones kicking around if you need them and i also have the tool to tighten them up if you want to borrow it

there is a special tool that locks them tight and folds the end over - however you probably will have to find a mechanic who will lend you one

what about those metal cable cties used for fitting exhaust wrap?

they are really strong, i have just done my rear turbo pipes and ran out of ties and wrap, have ordered some more, not sure when it will come due to post strike etc but i should have 1 or 2 ties left over.

if you think they would be useful can pop em in the post foc for you.

realistically i dont think it will be to early next week though

maybe you could get hold of a tie from elsewhere if thats too long to wait

Thanks very much for the generous offers Sean and Arty. I managed to get the ties from the motor trade cash and carry i mentioned; was very lucky and found the bands that had been originaly fitted.

Once again thanks for the advice.
