Immobiliser button

Potentially a stupid question but I am having to wave my immobiliser thingy around outside the window before it eventually unlocks the car etc. Is it a simple matter of changing the battery ? If so, do I just open up the little button chap and replace it ? Basically I don't want to force open the gadget to find out it never closes again.

Best place I have found to aim at is where a conventional door handle would be if there was one!
