E46 330i Sport Tourer 2001 - Sat Nav MKIII model upgrade

Evening All,
Hoping someone can help, I have recently upgraded the operating system to v29 on a MKIII sat nav unit and also bought a 2007-01 High upgrade (DVD) off Ebay which does not work!! However by what I have read on the forums I believe that I might have dropped a bo**ock as the MKIII unit only reads CD-Rom's, can someone please confirm whether or not I am indeed a sandwich short of a picnic and if so what I need to do to get it sorted out.
