I have just invented something . . .

In the light of all the new infra red speed cameras and the topic of garage door openers now deemed illegal in cars because they 'blind' the poor things wouldn't it be a shame if someone designed a solar powered device that emitted infra red signals which could be stuck in the ground pointing at the lenses of the speed cameras and designed to look like a 'rock' with the solar panel wired to but some distance away so as not to arouse suspicion?

A few minor faults in your thinking though ... the fixed camera's don't use infra red, and if a mobile unit would "beam" your car, why would the rock which is not in the line of vision "react".

Like your thinking, but I think a bit more work is needed (portable mobile phone transmitter or so would be good ... )

infra red is easily created just a filter over any bulb can create infra red so red plastic film on your sidelights would emit the right wavelength of light. However you would then be incontravention of the road traffic act by displaying red fron lights.
There are new cameras proposed that use infra red so they can take pictures at night without a flash.

Front facing Truvelo units (are supposed to) have a magenta filter over the flash.
