servicing and warranty
Discussion
Despite having a main dealer service at 15500 three months ago, the 360 is now due a 18k service which, bearing in mind it was just done, is staggeringly expensive (even though it means plugs and stuff too).
If i get this service done at an Indy rather than a main dealer will it invalidate my warranty (its the main dealer supplied Ferrari warranty if that helps)? I'm confident that i recall reading that Porsche dealers weren't allowed to argue about any warranty work with non-dealer serviced cars, but I'm unsure if this applies to the robbery-without-a-mask Ferrari main dealers.
Id be appreciative of any info you could supply. Thanks in advance.

Just add Kia to the list and they can really be global!
Why does it need a service again? Service intervals are yearly or 6k,12k,24k,36k etc on the 360, so the 15k service, was it a 12k, and if so, why does it need another (and why so late?).Dealer should have set you up for not needing a service within 6 months (or was that 3 months
God I'm useless!). It's annual or mileage, not both IIRC.
Also bear in mind you cannot renew warranty with Ferrari if you take it to a non franchise dealer (things might have changed so check with someone at Ferrari). Not sure if it will invalidate the warranty you've got though. Is it a POWER warranty or a Formula warranty?

why do you need another service after 2500 miles?? or is this a yearly service?
well, the cars actually done 6k in the 3 or 4 months since service so i phoned to organise a 6k service. however the service chappy tells me that since the car is now over 18750 itll have to be the 18750 big service that needs doing to satisfy the requiremnts of the warranty.Edited by nervous on Tuesday 9th October 23:21

service is also due at 18750 according to my service schedule. car was serviced by dealer at point of sale, 6k ago. when i bought the car from the main dealer i was very much under the impression that we werent due another service for 6k or 1 year. now that its done 6k since the last service i wanted to get the service, so was a :little: miffed to find that were actually due a service costing 2 grand some 750 miles after we collected the car. miffed, but not in any way surprised.

Im afraid I dont recall as I still havent recieved exact details (see above), despite being a third of a year and many, many calls later. I have a feeling its the newest kind of warranty, and that it replaced the power one.My worry is that since we were *under the impression* that we had 6k before the next service and have of course missed the 18750 (we actually went past that mileage on the way home from the dealership) that irrespective of what service we have now and who does it, warranty is fooked since we didnt adhere to the service schedule exactly.
of course, the dealer has been as helpful as cholera about all this, so Im hopeful that someone here can help.

But in brief:
15k you bought car, annual service done.
21k mileage now, 4 months later, needs 18k service.
Dealer should have done the large service for you. IMO, they are taking the piss, mileage was too close to the 18k to be doing an annual. Complain to the dealer, and to Ferrari UK.
If you have to pay for the servicing, all main dealers do deals on servicing so haggle, or speak to this guy:

I don't think your warranty is fecked btw.

I'm not sure the Dealer has been unreasonable, it's quite common for Ferraris to do around 3k miles per annum therefore the Dealer might reasonably expect it to last a Year before needing the 18750 thus replacing the next annual service. 15k you bought car, annual service done.

As for the Warranty if it's part of the original 3/4 Year Warranty then Ferrari may be flexible however if it's the Power/ Formula (backed by Insurance comapny) or a third party then they will use any reason to Wriggle out of paying
I've just put my Car into Graypaul for it's 18,750, they were nearly £1k cheaper than Maranello (although i'm sure this wil change with the new ownership) and cheaper by varying amounts than Lancaster and Dick Lovett Cardiff

as i said, we reached the 18750 mark on the way home from the dealership. not three months later, three hours later.nervous said:

I'm confused I read it that the car had just been serviced at 15.5k when you bought it and it's done 21.5k now? if it had done 18k+ when you bought it and they didn't do the major service, just an annual then time to talk to them. Just to clarify the annual services are only required if you do not reach the mileage levels within a 12 month period they are not in addition too mileage services.
apologies for the confusion, the car was serviced at 15.5 by the main dealer, and then underwent all work for warranty eligibility. we bought the car at 18K. the cars extra mileage had been added by the dealership in the meantime, i guess whilst they were trying to flog it. the car is now at 21.5k. long story short, its my fault for not scrutinizing what was being said more or at least with more suspicion. I'm absolutely confident that when we bought the car that the salesman told us we would not need a service for 6k, though of course now that i look at our records theres no detail of that fact.
Ill have to bite the bullet, i don't see that i have a great deal of other choice. Expensive lesson learned. never trust a salesman, irrespective of the reputable nature of the dealership.

No f**king way!!! Speak to the dealer principle, speak to Ferrari UK, as in now!I was thinking I had read things wrong, but now you've cleared it up. The car should have been serviced, as part of the Ferrari used car charter "thingy". The car was sold to you, needing a service. Tell them you want the service done for free, like yesterday.
Stand your ground and argue the point, £2k is a lot of anyone's money for what is essentially rightfully yours, why pay twice? Seriously, call Ferrari UK, and be persistent, they are usually quite interested to resolve these sort of issues.

Better have a look at my experience...

You should speak to them IMHO. When I bought my car with < 5K miles I got the 6K mile service done, no questions asked. So it's a no brainer.
Hope you get this sorted ASAP.
