Writing a Perl script has cost me a car
Discussion
Presumably you all know the computer programming language known as Perl? Did you know it can cost you the use of a car?
I got tired of generating loads of data logs from driving the TVR and never having time to look at them in detail... (therefore not having a properly tuned car)
So I wrote a Perl script to do the work for me. It turned out to be quite good at it, and after it had ploughed through 2000 seconds of log data, the map was very much improved.
The downside of this is that Nic now likes the Griff so much she doesn't seem to want to let me drive it again.
Damn.
My masterplan is foiled again

Interesting. What does the script actually do?I got tired of generating loads of data logs from driving the TVR and never having time to look at them in detail... (therefore not having a properly tuned car)

It rummages through log files and the ECU config data and finds areas where there are "errors". (EG. if the lambda readings are too high/low or the ECU is doing too much lambda correction)
It then produces a revised set of config tables based on a statistical analysis of this data and a set of tables to show how close to your safety margins you are running eg the range of exhaust gas temperatures seen under certain conditions.

BTW, The ECU is VEMS, but there's no reason why the script won't work on any speed density ECU that can output the right things in a datalog.
Does anyone know if you can log the output of a Dyno dynamics rolling road via USB or something? It would be another useful input to the script.
