Pulley Noise -with pics - help
Discussion
Finally found where the strange scraping noice is coming from - it is the pulley at the top nearside of engine (where PAS pump would be). Sounds like the bearings - i tried to get a replacement but to no avail - here are the pics of the part -

I think this is a part made by TVR - the only number i can find is on the bearing ring - RSR 6305 - so maybe i can buy that and hope to get it out of the housing.
My other thought is to run a shorter v-belt and miss out that pulley altogether - i.e. around the crank - water pump - alternator - tensioner - (i think there should be enough friction to turn the water pump - standard belt is 1850 i think - and i can get a 1288 belt which i believe is perfect if i miss out the pulley in question).
Advice appreciated....

6305 is a standard 25mm bore (i think) "popular metric" bearing. It will be off the shelf at any bearing distributor for a couple of quid. Get a 2RS version with rubber seals as this will keep the dust etc out.
Unless it is installed with a circlip, it will push out with a bit of care.
edited to add: the centre punch marks on the front of the housing have been made to stop the bearing falling out. Push it through these and use bearing lock when you put the new one in.

THanks for the help - i think i will try to go in and get one from a motorcycle spares shop (internet ordering is great but i am never in when they deliver). So i guess i find something to get the old bearing out and when i put the new one in "bearing lock" was mentioned - i have not heard of this before - can anyone give me a heads up?

It's a Range Rover part. pretty straightforward to get hold off from a TVR or Rover V8 parts specialist.
I went to a Land Rover dealer on Saturday - and spent one hour going through all the diagrams of every part they have. The mounting bracket is Range Rover for a power steering pump, but there was nothing at all that was just a bearing in a carrier - I took the part with me - even showed them the number o n the bearing - but they came up with nothing. I get a bearing and hope i can get the old on out and the new one in. I will keep you posted. Thanks for all your help - once again amazed with the info on here.

Quick Update, I have the bearing and now need to remove the old one, pu thte new on in. However just in case anyone else has a similar problem i used a 1288 7 groove belt and missed out the offending pulley altogether - i was worried that the water pump might not have enough friction but it works an absolute treat - no slippage at all. So now i do not have to rush to get the job done. Just thought it might be useful to know.
