Anyone got a Defender with the Cold Weather Pack (heated seats, screen, etc)?

Not sure whether to upgrade to a newer Defender, but these could be a useful option.

I did try a new 2.4 demo recently, but I wasn't convinced that the heated seats were that effective. Anyone had experience with them in cold weather?

Thanks

I've got a 2000 Disco here in Colorado and when it's -20 F they make a big difference and made for a much more comfortable drive to work on January mornings. They aren't so warm that you really notice them when the temp is in the 30s though. Sure wish my Disco had a heated steering wheel.

I'm a great fan of heated seats, even when it's fairly mild. In fact, my wife insits on them in any car. The best ones are brilliant and warm you up well before the heater starts to have any effect. Best thing is, you can run the cabin fairly cool and still be nice and cosy.

Just wanted to be sure that they were effective in the Defender.

I have a Defender 90 'black LE' which has heated seats which are fantastic in cold weather. My labrador which normally sits in the passenger seat seems to think so too.

Slightly off topic but I once bought a brand new Scania 4 series and was driving down the road quite pleased with myself in the middle of winter with the heated seat on full blast when the element developed a fault and burnt through the seat foam,my jeans and literaly set fire to the back of my leg before the fuse blew!

I have a 2006 Defender 90 XS. The heated seats warm up really quickly and get too hot to be left switched on for long. Definately what you need while you wait (and wait) for the air to warm up. That shouldn't be such an issue on the new model though.

Also a big thumbs up for the heated front windscreen, defrosts the screen in winter very quickly indeed.

I've got after market http://www.exmoortrim.co.uk/ heated seats fitted in mine. It's an easy job and only takes an afternoon to complete. Not sure how they compare to other marques but I normaly have to turn mine off after 5/8 miles.

Mine never see anymore than luke warm, but it's still nice if it's really cold and snowy outside.

I had the heated seats on my 2003 90 XS and they were brilliant, they also normallt come as part of the cold climate pack which includes the heated front screen which is a legend as it clears screen while you wait for engine and seat to warm up!!

Yep, exactly my criterior too and Landie seats come up to the mark. Screen is excellent on cold or icey mornings and also helps with condensation on wet but warm days.
