Must admit to being puzzled myself when you see him going to the toilet with his dad.
If you read the other articles on that site, there are some very, very interesting comments by spanish fans. They clearly have a different view from us!
Mind you it can't help when Ron is quoted as saying "we weren't racing Kimi, we were racing fernando". Whoops!

I always enjoy an opposing view though, but for some reason i rarely get read of the other side of the coin in our media.
I'm disappointed though that i've only just discovered that spanish fans are posting on the Times website.

I found it much more amusing when DC drove into the pit-lane wall in his Williams, and later on said "I would have won that if I hadn't of crashed into the wall"Not very nice.....

I don't really get the Lewis H hatred. Thats his first real cock up this year. Alonso fell off in the rain in the previous GP - an equally big mistake IMHO. He's a decent driver, decent all round PR man (which is an essential part of the job of course), and has a bit of charisma to (unlike Kimi). And he is a Brit. Why so many knockers?

it is an interesting article. my view is that i think we ( the british public/racing fans) would be far more disappointed with 'our lewis' failing to win the championship than say; we were with Hill in '94. I think the general perception is that Lewis is that rare British sporting icon, a winner through and through. With Hill , and Mansell to a certain extent, we were conditioned to the plucky brit syndrome. Like we were with Henman, knowing that these guys weren't really from the top draw. But with hamilton we believe it to be different. It is a measure of the man that he has created this feeling through the incredible season he has had. So if he fails...... will the dream be shattered and he is resigned in the publics perception to that fate which befell Hill and others. Thought this interesting too, about being good at sport but not knowing how to win.

It is ridiculous really that I think ( and suspect many others do) like that. He is far too good for that, but maybe he will be more of a Moss than a Clark. I hope he wins because i want the dream to remain alive, that he is the second coming , time will tell i suppose.
Guy spends 14 years racing to get to the pinnacle of his profession, a very skilled profession. Supported all the time by his dad, come rain or shine. Hasn't said much except for 'I'll try to come first, thanks to the team, great job everyone' etc etc. Rookie season or tenth season, he has still done a good job so far by anyones standards and there is no reason to suspect that this won't continue.
Where is the problem? Why be insulting/derogatory about him - does anyone here, anyone, actually know him? No, thought not.
Basically then: media feeding frenzy + blinkered view = skewed opinions. Tut tut, you should know better...

I didn't see this, but surely this was just to have a private conversation away from the media? I'm guessing you've never been looked at, photographed and filmed by a sea of hundreds of people everywhere you've been?

I thought both McLaren and Lewis made many errors in that race.
McLaren: not changing tyres at the first pit stop, not bringing him earlier when guys on fresh inters were 10s/lap faster, not telling Lewis to back off battling Raikonnen.
Lewis: should have just let Raikonnen go, instead he battled for 2 laps just shredding what was left of his tyres even more. Unfortunately Lewis' oversteery style did him no favours at that stage, Raikonnen's cleaner style and possibly better balanced car meant he was going better on old tyres that were in a much better condition.
I'm afraid that much as I dislike the red team, that when Ross Brawn was in charge they hardly ever put a foot wrong tactically, they always seemed to come out ahead in any given situation. McLaren have shown poor judgement on a number of occasions and often seem to come out worst in pitstop strategies.
Lewis showed a bit of his inexperience last weekend, but hats off to him for only doing so when the pressure really was on, he can only learn from it. Of the 3 drivers battling it out next week, only one of them really deserves the win. Raikonnen's a smooth driver but he's not quick, he seems to have an extra gear to move into when he sniffs a win, but when there's are car in front he generally seems happy to chug around in 2nd or 3rd rather than racing for position.

What ever the end result in Brazil you have to say Lewis is a lucky guy to have such unconditional love from the family, from his step mum to his disabled brother to his dad. How many here have dads who would have done so much to let their son have a crack at a dream.
