Interior Door Trim Refurbishment Options
Discussion
Originally I had 2 different interior door trims, one was an early flat type with real veneer and the other was a domed type with a painted on veneer effect. The veneer on the flat one has long since fallen off.
I have recently got hold of 2 more domed type trims (Thanks Paul in Essex! the guy breaking the 400SE) The question is what sort of effect to go for now I have 2 matching ones.
Options are, 1.repeat veneer type finish, 2. Colour Code to Car Colour (Italian Red), 3. Paint Black to provide a contrast between the Tan leather interior, 4. Apply a Carbon Effect, 5. Remove existing veneer effect and leave a polished aluminium surface.
First Question is what have you done? Picture please if possible. Second one is what should I do?

When my dash veneer flaked off many moons ago I [i]temporarily{/i} painted the metal with "alloy wheel paint" No pictures unfortunately but it looks good enough that I'm contemplating doing the door trims to match. IMHO wood veneer onto thin metal is always going to flake off and I'd be mortified to pay the figues quoted to re-veneer only to have it fall off a couple of years later.
