Hi,

I'm near completion of my Shelsley T2 but i can seem to find anyone who can supply me an unequal tee for the cooling system in metal? 13mm(ish) main with 6mm take off - must be in metal (aly or steel) as its near the exhaust manifold and the plastic/nylon one i've tried has failed in the heat or under strain from engine movement.

Any ideas?

Chris

you could easily make one up using copper plumbing fittings...

I did think about that, but would the solder be ok?

also, i need to tap into a samco hose just after the air filter to get a vacuum to the crankcase (9 or 13mm) but no-one seems to do a hose take off for this? i would have thought this is a standard sort of problem?

I made up something similar on the Fury using copper plumbing and solder, never had a problem with it, and that was tracked hard and got very hot.

hello
ive used 15mm copper pipe on my heating system as i needed a tight 180 degree bend and i couldnt find any suitable rubber hose.
unless the pipe is touching the manifold the radiated heat wouldnt be enough to melt the solder (it melts at 180 to 190 degress C)

Cool, copper pipe it is!

i've tried nfauto and they don't do the bits i need and they only do a 15mm take off (which i bought to experiment with) but i would be fearful of the bottom section coming off and going straight into the turbo!

i've found on from Revotec but they want £25 for one! seems a bit of a rip off for a connector, might end up being that though frown

One thing to note: I was warned at one point not to use coolant with the Organic Acid Additives (OAT) as it can degrade soldered joints as used in older brass radiators, the more advanced coolants tend to have this in it these days. Having said that I did use it for a while in one car with no problems so it can't be a major issue.
