What the ADR compliance info is for the vehicle

"ADR compliance details are printed on the compliance label affixed to the vehicle.
The compliance lable is affixed to the B-Pillar on the passengers side of the vehicle.
Please refer to chapter 8 of the VE series owners manual for further information."

It would be good if you can PM me or post them up.

Basically Id like to get the full list of compliance standards and compare them with a Holden SS VE. With a view to getting some statement of equivalence from VOSA for import. So far looks like mission impossible, but where there is a will there is (sometimes) a way...

My mate emailed me a pic

Its a tag with the VIN number and says Approval: 35628

Maybe its the one under the windshield. Which is more like the A pillar but there you go.

If you find the tag if you can confirm the Approval number is the same that would be most excellent.

Have found a tag on the passenger b pillar - its on the inside front (so open the front passenger door and you can see it).

Unfortunately nothing close to that number of any mention of ADR.

the windsheild is just the chassis number.

In the engine bay it has chassis, gearbox and engine numbers but thats it.

If you can give me more info where to look then I'll double check.

Aha - well it's definately the same label I found on the passenger B pillar. However although it's slightly different. 99% of the info is the same but there's no mention of an approval code.

Darn, thanks mate.
Is the VIN number the same? If so that would suggest the same make, model, build level etc. If you can let me know the non unique bits that would be great.
Thanks for your help.

Nope - not even close.
Picture: 6G1EK54H67L
My Car : 6G1EX55H38L

The K is the "luxury level" - X = VXR8
The second 5 is the restraint level = 4 is active belts, drive passenger and side airbags. 5 (on mine) is the same plus curtain airbags.
the 6 after the H is just a check digit
the 7 is the model year (which is 2008 on mine?)

Not sure how hard it will be to personal import a SS VE. We have imported a HSV VE GTS and had to achieve Euro 4 level emissions. This entailed HSV testing new Cats and ECU, then shipping the parts to us for a test at Milbrook Labs.
Good luck if you can convince them to accept Euro 3 for a personal import.
Phil.

ringram was it you I spoke to (briefly) on the mobile last yesterday? Got the no from the website listed on your profile.
I had a chat to Les at BG HSV last night. We compared VINs on a HSV GTS and a VE SS. He was in the middle of a sale, but said he will try to answer any questions you have.

HSV:
HOLDEN LIMITED
HOLDEN VE P/CAR
6G1EX55V28L968150

SS:
HOLDEN LIMITED
HOLDEN VE P/CAR
6G1EP55H78L949919

The L denotes Elizabeth plant, then the serial no.

He said both cars get licenced with Holden as the manufacturer.
Both cars meet the same ADRs and emmision specs.

Hope that is some help, let me know what else you need. If you do this, Perth would be the logical place to send it from as far as shipping goes. If I can help organise it I would be happy to.

If the VXR8 has been modded to meet a higher Euro emmision test, I would have thought those mods (cat? ECU?) could just be fitted to the SS to get the same result? If the VXR8 is modded, anyone know where? At HSV or by Vauxhall?

The VXR8 is Euro 3 not 4. GTS personal import required euro 4, I imagine the fact that SS has different engine would require bespoke software and hardware to achieve euro4 not just use HSV bits.
