Just had mine replaced (under warranty fortunately) by my (non-local) independant. They were only able to source the standard one and I have had absolutely no problems since it has been replaced. Even the reverse gear crunch seems to have stopped (though I still use 3rd gear out of habit before going into reverse). Very please with it.

Unfortunately CleverTrevor / Raceproved don't have any clutches available at the moment, but should do soon.

The upgraded release bearing /slave cylinder is available though, and seems to be a very good bit of kit. As far as I can make out a standard clutch should last reasonably well, the release bearing is really the weak point - so it's worth fitting even with a standard clutch.

Cheers,

FT.

I wanted a Clever Trevor clutch in June and had no stock then. My recommendation is to stick with std clutch, I think the friction material is better suited. The level of copper in the plate allows a smoother take up of drive. I'm sure the repairing agent would prefer std as well ! As for the release bearing, when I spoke to Harrogate HHC they offered me an upgraded slave cylinder. This is heavier in weight but a lighter pedal !

I know that CT have had a bit of a lull in supply due to friction material delays but I believe that they should have stock pretty much around now. The Raceproved unit that CT provide has been fitted to quite a few cars as an upgrade/replacement to the standard AP unit and is a straight swap as far as I am aware, there is no difference as far as the fitter/garage is concerned.

Might be worth giving Keith Burgess a call or email before you commit to replacing with a standard unit...just my tuppence worth...

hi kippax

let me know how you get on as i have a 2001 tuscan s with a notchy gear select, it does feel that the plate is not clearing, so i would be interested which way to go, standard or clever trevor.

I recently replaced my std clutch for the raceproved one. There was nothing wrong with my original clutch as it had only done a couple of thousand miles but the slave was leaking so I decided to replace the lot. New set up is a dream compared to the old, makes it a very easy drive.

Just been having a look on Raceproved Ltd website and I think ive found the reason why some people are having trouble getting hold of one of their clutches at the moment !
It looks like they are in the later stages of developing a new rang of twin and triple plate clutchs.
Im guessing that they are waiting to off load their stock of original redesigned replacement clutches before they release the new ones.
This is just my veiw have not contacted them myself to confirm this.

Have a look for yourselves and make your own mind up.

Hi Paul, how's things? Haven't seen you at your ma/pa's for a while, hope you are doing well. I think I saw your T at JMS recently though...

I have just had my CT clutch plates (friction plates) changed out for new ones by CT due to juddering. This has taken a while to get sorted as they have been waiting for ages for the new friction materials to make the new plates up. Anyway, once they got them made up, Fernhurst replaced them for me at no cost to myself and I am really pleased with the results - the clutch doesn't judder at all now in 1st gear when pulling away and the whole set-up feels more solid altogether.

Anyway, I reckon those who are waiting on clutch kits or replacement friction plates should now start seeing results and CT's operations should be back to normal with stock of upgraded clutch units etc. Interesting stuff about Raceproved's developments though,

Cheers

Andy

Hi all .. I build raceproved's clutch packs here in my workshop and can confirm that new friction material was bought in recently and a new press tool made to make the friction plates in less time than before, also raceproved's engineers are doing the friction plates now rather than 3rd party so consistency of supply will be back to normal in the next week or two. I'm sure raceproved would wish me to thankyou you all for your patience in the recent weeks, cheers all smile

yes Thank you trackcar & CT for a luvelly set of parts

Just for those not seen earlier post;

replaced all my Sagaris clutch bits;

Hope this info helps all

TVR Original Slave leaked at 2k miles, stopped leaking at 4k miles.

First & reverse always akward from 0 miles
Getting difficult when cold at 3k miles to double clutching at 5k miles
1 ,2 ,3 nearly impossible to get.

Got the lot out and found:-

Clutch friction plate- not worn.

Original TVR slave leaking and thrust bearing noisy and without lubrication.

Original spring fingers intact but worn on ends on thrust bearing contact points; reduced spring load found with CT raceproved test equipment.

Original Clutch fork/yolke worn in base

Thrust faces- few hot spots but OK

THE CT RACEPROVED REPLACEMENTS

New CT Raceproved Clutch Assembly ;Spring properly heat treated with larger contact area and induction hardened to stop wear

Raceproved CT Clutch Assembly

Raceproved lightweight aluminium CT slave with PTFE coated sliding surfaces

RESULT:

Silky smooth changes including 1st, & reverse.

No slave leaks and don't expect any.

Drives like a different car; no missed gears now

5 Hours labour

Just thought I'd add, I got my car back last night, standard AP clutch with the RP/CT release bearing/slave. The gearchange is frankly transformed. It is so smooth that for a moment I wasn't sure it was even working! Well worth the money.

Cheers,

FT.
