How often do you use yours??
Discussion
Most weekdays (commute, including home tonight)
Weekends (traffic jam avoidance + pleasure in the summer)
Holidays (touring)
Track day/ training (ok, only 1 track-based so far, but annually for road)
Shopping (no parking/congenstion fees, keeps the volume of purchases down!)
33k miles on this machine (so far)

Used to be my only transport (many years ago) when I would ride in all weathers, including snow and ice. In those days I was doing around 17k to 20k miles per year.
Now I generally commute in a car as it’s warmer, drier and cheaper but do use the bike for the occasional summers day commute.
I do a touring holiday to the continent every year and do the occasional summer weekend blast (as the family commitments allow) but it’s no where near as regular as I would like.
All in all I now do about 3k to 4k miles per year but I do keep the bike road legal for all 12 months as some of my best rides have been on bright sharp winter days and I wouldn’t want to miss them.

Use mine everyday in all weathers (my office looks like a Chinese laundry today trying to get stuff dry for run home...) Cover about 1000 miles a week but spread over a few bikes.
No matter what the weather a bike is always better than a car and winter riding is much better fun than summer riding. If you don't do it you should try it!

same here!I guess those that ride day in day out on a bike in winter have to because they work in a city and the commute by car would be horrendous..sure the odd nice day here and there can be fine and great to be on 2 wheels but by and large winter road riding in the rain, slime,sh 1t and icey mornings aint no fun at all and far from better than summer riding IMHO.
Im lucky I guess that my commute isnt far and by the time ive unlocked the bike, dragged it out of the garage, put my gear on I would already be at work if id taken the car.

I was totally dry apart from the feet (new boots needed).
Altbergs... never let a drop in. I'll never use anything else ever again. They make boots for the police and the army I believe. They hand make every pair so if you order them now you'll be waiting a month or maybe more. Well worth it though and my sidi black rains are sitting unused and due to go on ebay.
I went for a pair of clubman classics with velcro. If you wear the boots all day I'd recommend the buckles as they'll last longer but the velcro is more convenient for the commute. I spoke to them on the phone and they suggested ordering them in half a size bigger than I normally wear and this is spot on for me with a pair of thickish walking socks. They're too hot for summer use but for autumn/winter/spring they are spot on and never leak a drop. Shame they look like wellies but I can't see the ladies finding trench foot attractive

They're proper footwear though and you'll probably need some blister plasters when you first get them.

I was doing 6k a year the last couple of years. Pleasure only but my car option was the other halfs Focus. Since I got another car I've cut down the miles a bit although it's not been helped by a lousy summer and spending so much time away with work this year.
Next year will be better.
