I know the answer should be never. I've just had the 12K service done and a new Gaz Golds Kit put on and a few other bits, so it's now set up and the best it's been since I bought it a year ago. So, are potential buyers looking for sorted Cerbera's at a higher price or just the cheapest they can get?

I don't know wether to sell now with everything sorted or enjoy it for another year then sell.

keep it. seems mad to sell it when you've just spent loads of cash & its the best its ever been. surely you need to experience it whilst its at its best???

The market is always flooded between October and May if you ask me. Always 60+ Cerbs for sale around then.

Hold out for may to October next year to see better returns. It very much depends on your car's condition and mileage though no matter how many are for sale.

As was I when I bought mine, but I didn't buy the cheapest, I also got 12 months warranty, which has been well worth it. I'm just amazed that people are advertising them as low as 10K. Why are we advertising them so low?

Eventually they must bottom out and I would say they just about have. Maybe I am wrong?

I am also of the thought that as our cars become older the age of the car will be less important upto a certain point. Then possibly as with all "Classic" cars the older cars will be more valuble than the newer ones.

I never think of when is best to sell, if you like the car and can afford it then keep it. Only sell the car when you either have to, or something better comes along.

Keep it!

Nicely said !

But I think there are two, distinct markets.

The enthusiast who will buy whatever time of year and probably on the condition (and probably on the care tended by the current owner) and the joyrider who is looking for something-for-the-summer.

I guess most people would prefer to sell to the former but the presence of the latter will mean you could ask for a better price in April/May.

You pays yer money......

Have we not hit the bottom yet? With more and more getting written off aren't we at that very rare point yet when prices start creeping back up due to their rarity?

When's the best time to sell - well obviously never and you'll realise this at it drives away. Just as I did as you strain to hear the last pop and bang from half a mile away left standing empty in your driveway.
Anyway, the time was right for me and I checked out the classified and set a price comfortabley above what I calculated to be the average because I felt (righty or wrongly) my car was worth it.
She sold within 4 days (thank you PH), my buyer agreed with me that the car was worth the money and the sale was made.
Unfortunately there are some giveaways in the classified for a number of reasons and this can make you think twice about your price. If you've got a good one, let these go because sooner or latter an informed buyer will turn up that will appreciate your car. I'm thinking about Paddy's (Satmans) car here. It may seem above the average (as was mine) but it is a sorted car with the right mods from an enthusiastic and knowledgeable owner and in my opinion worth the asking price.
But obviously don't sell it, at least not without a fight - it's a cerbera goddamit, what else is there?

Thanks for the kind words...(cheques in the post! hehe)...seriously thou...i cant agree more. Yes there are other cars out there, with a much cheaper price tag, and yes the time of year may have an influence on a buyers "right time to buy", but i can assure you, if circumstances were different for me the car would be staying here...and yes i have tried to justify selling the Beemer and Tuscan, but need a nice daily runner for me and the kids and still have TVR ownership...so feel the right move is allowing the Cerbie to go to a good home. But i will not sell her cheaply, and i do know i could have sold her quicker back last spring, but i do know, the 'right car', will sell at the 'right price', anytime of the year.

Lee.

Well i couldn't agree more but you do have to be careful. i looked at a fair few cars good and bad but finally settled on Davids car because not only did it appear to be a good clean well sorted car but also had a good colour combination. What really sold it to me thou was Davids knowledge and understanding of the cars he told me a lot of things i didn't know about the cars which was good it gave me more confidence, well that was until he told me he was an estate agent then i didn't believe a word he said biglaugh he also took the car into Levens for them to check it over and allowed me to get a good look underneath and all was good and the deal was done. Imho i didn't think the price for this particular car was ott and as a bonus he threw in a new spare windscreen, a spare spider alloy, starter motor, acumate, diagnostic software and lead, various 100A fuses oil pressure relief springs the list goes on so all in all a very good deal thanks David!

One thing he did forget to tell me thou was i would need a good supply of aspirins and ear plugs as after 3 days of continuous driving with sports pipes and no cats I've lost my hearing and have one hell of a headache!

Thanks again David I'm more than happy with my new found cerbie just a shame the weather is on the turn, still, might save me a few quid in fuel bills.

Cheers

Lee

Hello Lee, don't worry mate, I wasn't in estate agent mode but if you find my kipper tie and white socks in the boot could you let me have them back, I feel naked without them.

Glad you're enjoying it and giving it some much needed use, I nearly ran up the road after you to catch one last glipse. Fuses will be in the post (when I can find them).

Hope you get the right price Paddy, I guess the Tuscan will help ease the loss though, sure beats an empty garage.

Cheers chaps.
David
