I need a new key for my x reg V5 golf, the original remote fob has been lost and i am using the spare non remote key. I have had a spare key cut but this will not start the car as it has not got the imobiliser chip/bit in it. VW want £200 and the car for half a day for a new remote key progrmed to the imobiliser. they say it needs to go on line to Germany to reprogram the new key. £200 for a new key seems excessive to me, anyone know of any alternatives to going direct to VW???????

Well that's the full question from my brother so what's the answer guys?
