Hi..

I'd like some feeback on the best way forward regarding the number of EGO sensors for a 96 500 with a non lucas ECU. I am using Megasquirt.. but Omex, Emerald etc apply equally here.

Should I use one or two wideband sensors?. Is the AFR and injector pulse width/duty cycle likely to differ from one bank to another? I beleive they do vary.. but enough to worry about?

I have been thinking to use one EGO sensor for one bank.. and an Exhaust gas temp in the other?...

Many thanks...

I think it will depend to a large extent which MS solution you're going for. I think if you're using MS1/Extra then you would only have a single wideband input. The MS experts would be the people to ask, though.

ETA: Oh, I see you're already using MS so you probably *are* the expert here! Um, in general the engine should be fairly symmetrical so I don't see any particular reason to need separate sensing/feedback on the two banks, but if it's available you may find you can get the engine that bit closer to a perfect tune.

As far as I know, MS doesn't have built in EGO controllers. So you end up with an external TechEdge/Innovate/VEMS Round etc (delete as appropriate) wideband controller for each sensor, and the output of that fed into the MS ECU.

I use one sensor on mine. (same idea as you wideband in one side and EGT in the other - maybe you got the idea from the Growl? wink ). I haven't bothered with the second EGO yet, since the car runs just fine with one, and passes UK emissions tests easily. It even passes the fast idle test with no cat.

Dave and Peter...

Many thanks. Techedge are local... so I'm happy that I can get support/help if needed. Using MS-II with "standard code".. I haven't yet vertured into the extras world!!
