hi all, really enjoying the new motor (see previous post). couple of questions...what do others get to the gallon? I must admit to being in the first throws of lust and as a conseqence have been a little too enthusiastic with the old girl.....but she does seem to need her thirst quenching a little to regularly. When I do calm down and stop driving around like my arse is on fire (in the inimitable words... "I am a driving God!!"), has anyone got any tips for a good economical driving style?

Listen too me! How sad am I....I've had the car less than a week and I'm already talking about fuel economy!

PS. I'm going to stop referring to it as "her" now...I'm scaring myself :-)

I have just sold a 02 3.6 litre facelift and would regularly get 22.5-23.5 to the gallon..I never saw it below 20mpg and got better on a long run as you can see from the link below;

No real difference,if maybe a little more economical than previous 911 I owned.

ummm...I seem to be getting a lot less than this. I need the wheels balancing as the car shakes a lot over about 65mph, would this help fuel cosumption at all?

Anything else to look out for that maybe causing it to be overly thirsty? Any advice welcome.

...I agree - I get same mixed driving mpg (22/23) and on the motorway, about 28/29mpg cruising at 85mph, say.

Mine's a '99 C4, i.e. 3.4l engine. Oil consumption on my car is about 1 litre every 8k miles.

Soemthing's definitely wrong with your car's setup from the sound of things.

Do get the wheels balanced and alignment sorted. If this is a dealer car, I'd take it back for them to sort -check over with a diagnostic may highlight some probs.

If u r Surrey way, GT1 at Chertsey, 01932 569911/944 can do this.

...isn't it a bit silly having the aircon on and roof down? Always thought that was a no, no as it puts too much strain on the car's aircon system.

There is no way I am going to sit in a traffic jam, one the hottest day of the year, on the A13, with the Roof up, just so I can stick the Air Con on..

And Vice Versa

Roof down, windows up, aircon on.
