Oil Engine rebuild
Discussion
I am sorry to go against the grain of what others have said but you should really be running the cam in on a mineral oil, the tappet to the cam lobe needs to bed in, in the same manner as a ring against a cylinder bore so to speak, kent cams/compcams/cranecams/realsteel/iskycams will not warrant any of there cams unless it is run in with mineral oil.

Well i may be fussy.....but i would run the the cam in on a cheaper oil anyways, and change it after a couple of hundred miles(filter too) even just to get rid of small fragments of gasket(and i dont care how clean you try to keep it theres always slight remains) and any slight material shed from the cam run/in process(and wouldent waste fuly syn for this)i would put fully syn/semi syn in after, this is just my cents worth and thoughts on the matter, and V8 racing i can see where your coming from
i think that being the case diesel motor oil would be ideal for this process.

I just ran it on Unipart 15/50 mineral for about 1500 miles. Then changed to a Semi synthetic (Morris oils)
