Kawasaki ER6-N
Discussion
Has anyone ridden one of these? What is the general concensus?
I have a full manual m/c licence, passed 6 years ago. Since I passed the test, I have not ridden a manual bike - having always had scooters (up to 500cc) which I have ridden thousands of miles all over Europe.
I now want to get a 'proper' bike, and am looking at the range of 600's out there. I've been reccomended the ER6N which looks a steal at £3799 otr. Insurance is surprisingly good at £340 (I'm 23, but no NCB as my m/c NCB was transferred to a car policy!).
I am having a days refresher course as I haven't ridden a manual bike for so long and don't want to make a tit of myself on any test ride, but as soon as that is out of the way I will start hunting properly.
I would like something new (or pre-reg), up to about £5k but cheaper is better. Will be a weekend toy and to be honest won't get used much at all!

Hi there,
I haven't ridden one, but have friends who have. The general consensus from owners is excellent.
Cheers and good luck, whatever you decide to buy

If it's a new ER6 for £3799, then that truly is a steal.I've been reccomended the ER6N which looks a steal at £3799 otr.

If I recall correctly, didn't this particular model have problems with stress fractures on the swing arm?
I passed my full motorcycle test twelve years ago, I rode then, a Honda C70 (chicken chaser) and a Honda CG 125. Now ten years later, I bought one of these :-)

Thirty one year old, full licence, no no claims, fully comp, four hundred and twenty pounds. :-)

I've got one! Bought it in June for commuting the 20 or so miles to work and its been brilliant. Covered just over 6000 miles to date but planning on storing it for winter in the next few weeks.
It's comfy, is light and handles well particularly with a change of tyres. I've fitted Michelin Pilot Road 2's as I wanted something sportier than the originals but that would last well plus the standard fitment rubber is lethal in the wet!, It's economical and normally averages over 60mpg riding mainly on A roads to work and back, it's quick-ish off the mark and I've seen an indicated 132mph on the speedo, build quality for a bike of it's price(I paid £4000 otr)has impressed me and it's been 100% reliable despite it being used almost every day since I picked it up and in some of the worst weather I've ever witnessed.
Having said all that I'm thinking of parting with mine next year as I just need something quicker and would prefer a bike with a fairing so I can do higher speeds more comfortably but it would make a great first bike.
