Whos come from a VX220 or Elise - comaprison?
Discussion
Currently deciding between Tuscan and Tamora...leaning towards Tamora...
I reckon some of you must have come from elise type cars (I had a VX220).
Can you describe the difference in driving experience?
Will I miss the VXs cornering?
handling wise is there much difference between Tuscan and Tamora?
Cheers people!

I have had an Elise, Exige (Mark 1) and a 340r and now in a Sagaris
.
The Sagaris is very much like a bigger lotus - great handling etc but with the Lotus's you could drive it on its limits and often want more power. With the Sag it is the other way around, a lot of power and you have to be very careful with your right foot. For me it was a natural progression. I had done the Lotus lightweight car thing and got it out of my system. Owning a TVR has been a great change and has been a great experience so far - do it!

Having had a sports racer elise I agree 99%. The part I disagree with was the suggestion that you have to be very careful with your right foot in a Sagaris. Unless its wet or on cold tyres I cant agree. TVR is actually quite forgiving.

I came out of Mk1 and Mk2 Elise's and still sometimes miss the driving sensation they gave.
They just lacked the power that the TVR's have in spades. I am now in a T350t.
I think the Tamora will be more nimble than the Tuscan but neither will be as good as your VX.
Having said that they have a noise that no other manufacturer can match look just as good on the exteria 'IMHO' and even better in the interior.
Whatever you decide enjoy.

Went from a VX220 Turbo to a Tamora.
Performance wise, the VX was much more confidence inspiring and more stable at speed. The Tam is quite a bit quicker but needs more work/concentration when pressing on.
From the view of the driving 'experience' the Tamora is in a different league. The VX was great to drive but it doesn't have a great deal of 'presence' on the road. With the Tam however, each time you drive it its an event!

Just realised I didn't really answer your questions!
Will you miss the VX's cornering? Well I can't really answer that! Do I miss the VX's handling? Yes I do, but the other attributes of the Tam more than make up for this.
Regarding the Tamora/Tuscan handling question. I've never driven a Tuscan, but most people in the know appear to say that the Tamora handles better. Possibliy due in part to the smaller front and rear overhang.

we have both - a SC Honda S2 Elise and a Sagaris, they are very different cars to drive (the Saggy is my other halfs daily drive)
the Saggy is more comfy long distance, more practical, and makes a much better noise...
my Elise (bearing in mind its 320bhp etc) is just as quick in a straight line but the driving experience is very different.
As for handling - I think the brakes on the modern TVRs - Tuscan, Saggy, T350, Tamora are great - easily better than a standard Elise ( have a lot more rubber on the road helps too)
the steering on the TVRs though (IMO) far too fast - about 1.8 turns lock to lock can make them feel very nervous on a bumpy B road until you get used to it...a good geo and proper tyre pressure (as per Elise/VX) really does make a difference..as does fitting NItron shocks and stiffer springs (on all TVRs except the Saggy, which is a bit too stiff as stock for B road use )
I dont think you will miss the "handling" too much - a Tamora wont feel quite as go kart like, but outright pace, on anything but the twistiest B road and there wont be anything in it - I suspect once youve done some familiarisation in the Tamora you will be just as quick (if not quicker - due to the power)
Both Lotus (and VX) and TVR are both great cars in their own way - dont let the scaremongering put you off enjoying a modern TVR - if you get a well looked after one, as late a model as possible, maybe thats had a rebuild already then you will be fine - just check the oil weekly and thats it....no different to a Lotus/VX really
cheers
