The other half pointed out this article on globo.com which tells how the fans of Alonso say he has been cheated including attempts to break his engine etc. They have started an online petition to help the cry baby via his fan site.

Click this link for the oglobo news story (in Portuguese);

http://globoesporte.globo.com/ESP/Noticia/Motor/0,...

This is Alonso's fan site where they also say that the 'British' also think LH and McClaren are cheating FA.

http://www.safety-car.net/

The latest news on oglobo is that FA has started the paperwork to nove to Renault in Jan 2008.

i would like to think that most of the motorsport fans here are capable of rising above this sort of thing. as much as i like football, i dont want F1 to end up with the same mentatilty of its supporters as happens with football supporters. i am sure tehre are lewis hamilton fan sites whereby people are saying the same thing too, personally i think it is annoying and overshadows the far more interesting things going on in motorsport at the moment. the petit le mans race for example was decided by less than a second after ten hours...

bow

However, not trying to bring attention to myself, what worries me is that you could take some posts on here and replace any reference to motor sport and drivers/teams with those of football references teams/players and they would still hold up...

In other words, I kind of agree with the comment above that there seems to be a new breed of individual (i will not use the term fan) that is creeping into this sport we all love... scratchchin

Is football gone out of fashion or something?

You could say the same of another Spanish World Champion Adam Raga. Seemed nice enough on the way up but some of the "sulks" make Alonso look like a Nice chap.

I think it's time Britain invaded Spain. It's been nearly 500 years since we last kicked their a$$es. I think they need a good lesson in humility again. First step should be to recall all our useless retirees from their rivera and banning cheap family holidays, you know, to show they 3rd world economy for what it really is by removing their main source of income. Then we should take another good portion of their economy by buying all our oranges from the US. They can keep their wines, as they're crap anyway. Once crippled our troops armed with our state-of-the-art SA80's can whoop their fag-welding native bricklayer a$$.

That'll learn 'em who's got the superior genes in this world. Hairy-pitted dago sl@gs!

Obviously your wine knowledge matches your F1 knowlege. http://www.thewinedoctor.com/tastingsprofile/vegas...
http://corkd.com/wine/view/8333-Mas_La_Plana_Gran_...

Likewise you know little of their economy. Benidorm is not Spain. It may suprise you the number of Fords and Vauxhalls made there. And they are a full manufacturing partner in Airbus. They also have the worlds largest global bank.

I suggest you look up Xenophobe in the dictionary then look in a mirror.

Just heard on Plymouth Hoe
"look Sir Francis, your last broadside has unmasked a Don, with his beard a'singed and his courses awry"

I like the cut of your jib, Milton Keynes, but totally OTT.

Just proves these Spanish can't give as good as they get. But then we know that anyway after watching Alonso try and take on baby newbie Hamilton, but ends up crying himself to sleep on Max Mosely's shoulder...

And I thought Damon Hill was wet. biggrin

There are 2 or 3 posters that are onto every F1 related thread with the same old story about F.A. The arguments are always the same and when challenged they just post a "don't believe you ya!ya!ya!" so I understand exactly which direction you all are coming from. Also note the monikers- trying to be totally anonymous. (changed mine this morning Ha!)

I shall sign off with these thoughts:
Is it because Spain's national sport involves bulls that our amigos post such bull**** ?
or is it because it's not the "chucking a donkey off a church tower" season so they feel the need to express their machismo here instead ?

Safe journeys home and good hooning! byebye

How about the ecomomy of the UK being 3 x larger than Spain

We have more active troops than them

Approximately 750 more nukes than them

I think we've got Spain covered

hehe

wink

PS I love the greasy little buggers really, they make lovely villas and golf courses, so I suggest we don't nuke them just yet.

You are wrong about the relative economies http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_European_coun...

Now we have retired the WE 177 and handed the nuclear depth charges back to USA I would be very suprised if we had that many nukes.

We only have more troops because we still have "global power" pretentions. And Spain had more until they recently stopped conscription.

And Alonso is still the best driver in F1.

The answer is quite simple and is the same as the problem created when Schumi entered the fray - glory hunting. Everytime a new driver, particularly of a new nationality (and I note, been no noteworthy German winners until Schumi and no noteworthy Spainsh winners until Alonso) they drag with them a new selection of passionate yet knowledgeless new followers in their wake, who claim to know it all (or at least attempt to put some smokescreen up with the help of t'internet databases, claiming they have followed F1 for years yet clearly haven't). It's the same old annoyance - "I don't know you REAL F1 fans" (like me who's been into it for 20 years) "so I'll use my ignorance to my own advantage and shun anything you say as crap".

To those I say one inescapable human trait that has been proven true many times over; Everyone judges others by how the judge themselves. i.e. they claim "I" no nothing, really all they're admitting to themselves is in fact they know nothing - unless you can provide somesort of evidence to back up your claim.

It's like talking to a christian fundamentalist or bashing your head against a brick wall, whichever leads to a nosebleed the sooner.

Yet, being on a public forum, they are allowed an exactly equal voice as your own. Annoying? Totally! Fact of life? Unfortunately! What can you do, except take the P? wink

You're trying to be smart, yet you're quoting from Wikipedia. Oh dear.

You also think Alonso is the best driver in F1. Oh Dear. Who put their car into the wall at China? Or was that McLarens fault?

Does that include our 1.3 trillion pound debt level?

Interesting situation - I work alongside about 7-8 nationalities, one of them being Spanish. To hear what they think (based on what they've read/heard) you'd think it was a different season, sometime in the future - their POV is totally the reverse.

FA wasn't popular in Spain prior to this season, they considered him arrogant. Now they all support him due to the perception that he has been very unfairly treated by Mclaren, they hate LH as they think he's a daddies boy and the favoured son of RD, they even hate LH's dad being on the telly every week, citing that as blatant favouritism and so on.

Basically it's the same set of facts but percieved differently due to the medias hyping up of every trivial associated incident or possible connection - we have ours, they have theirs, but the facts don't change, just how you see them, which is via the media....
