Thought I'd start this a few days before the new series kicks off on Monday.

Watching the trailers, it's struck me that the new Dragon, James Caan, apart from being easily confused with the American actor, looks a bit like Don Palmer.

Anyone else?

I love it when they do the catchups especially of the true no-hopers who then proclaim they're doing so well they're going to retire etc etc.

Shame Richard Farleigh has left, he seemed to have a good grip on reality.

Great program but not quite what it seems, like most TV I guess.

I know someone who has been on it(don't ask, don't have his blessing to be writing this) and he was made to look like a complete muppet through selective editting. Apparently the worst person on it who virtually runs the show is Peter, what he says goes. If anyone answers him back even with a fair point it never makes the final cut. Peter did not get on with Richard, guess what happen next.

Still looking forward to it though, not much to compete with it IMO.

In tonight's programme:

"See if David Beckham lookalike Andy Harmer pockets the £100,000 he's after for his new celebrity doubles experience or whether Laban Roomes has the Midas touch and bags the £60,000 he needs to franchise out his portable gold-plating business."

Portable gold-plating business, eh? Interested to see how that's going to work scratchchin

In the meantime, try out the product generator and be inspired!

I'm off to try and invent some 'miniature digital luggage'. Sounds like a winner to me silly

There used to be (may still in fact) be a franchise opportunity called Midas, it was portable gold plating for cars, for people who think their ageing Lexus LS400 will look loads better with gilt badges. It was really popular with a certain demographic amongst some of the shadier areas of Leeds a few years back.

ETA I've found it, Midas Touch, £6995 for a franchise. http://www.franchisesales.com/franchises/Gold-Plat...

As for the celebrity double experience, if its there I'll give you the money myself hehe

Indeed, she comes across as a very sour character.

You just know you would end up gold plating a boiled egg, stick it in a hens enclosure and wait to see the look on the farmers face hehe

Doesn't look like Midas Touch got the money then...

During the second series, I Googled both the winners and losers and in the majority of cases it was quite difficult to tell if they had actually won or lost. The earlier series were recorded quite some time before transmission so there was a fair amount of time for each idea to stand or fall on it's own merits.

IMO the more savvy DD contestants go on there not wanting to win. They just want a free 10 minute advert on prime time TV and then they can find an investor with more time and money to put into them.

I can't recall many massive long-term successes coming from DD (unless Keith's sauce is still walking off the shelves). Does anyone here know of any?

The dragons are real thieves. Anyone willing to give up 50% (or more) of their business for a reletivly meagre amount of money probably shouldnt be in business in the first place.

Its interesting to see that many of the so called 'done deals' later disolve when the people realise that they cant do business with people like the dragons - I think the term 'massive egos' was patented just for this show.

Very enjoyable though. :-)

Well there is that too, but as the P&P has gone all PC (wink), I didn't want to lower the tone by suggesting that her face looks like a week-old cow turd.

Ah, too late...

No way! My 'steam-powered secret chess machine' will beat yours hand down.

Back on topic: I love this programme its just a shame that they skim over some of the entrants that look more interesting than the ones they show. Perhaps they should have a site with ALL the ideas listed.

Added: I thought there was a PH'er that was going to enter. Any ideas what happened there?
