Why the lack of cerbs in Sprint Magazine?
Discussion
I've written a few cerb articles over the years because i'd been asked to by many customers.. mainly tuning related ..
The last one i submitted was apparently too long and would have to wait at least 6 months before space became available to print it
always seems to be space available for the same old same old though.
I probably won't write any more full-blown articles but will write few brief snippets about whats going on in the workshop.
I'd love an outlet for writing something along the lines of walkers workshop in practical performance car magazine.
I agree there's just not enough cerb related stuf n there, and by that I don't mean just another article about a journey to the continent that's just another travel story but with chimaera changed for cerbera. How i hate stories about that, like a long postcard from someone you dont know about how nice the driving roads are! lol.
PS why did you post this here and not on the tvrc forum? or have i missed it over there?

Joolz,
Just shoot me down if you think this is a stupid idea...
Would you be interested in writing articles on tuning/modifying/upgrading TVRs for the Speed Championship web site?
I'm thinking I could set up a blog page so that you could write as and when you wanted to. We could also submit the 'ramblings' to Sprint to try and get them included.
We have all types of TVRs in the championship and many of us are grasping for info on how to improve our cars and are always on the look out for people we can trust and rely on to help develop our cars.
What you think?
Tim

The bane of club mags (and I reckon Sprint to be among the better ones)... endless small talk blown up to multipage features... while technical content (for which there's actually a lot of demand among members/readers) is always seen as a bit too 'special interest'. Might have something to do with the pschychological aspects of what the Germans so aptly call Vereinsmeier (to be loosely translated as 'club nerds')...another month, another disappointment. always some articles on the old tvr relics, and some chim bits. Maybe next month.

Same for me, getting a bit fed up with same sort of articles, posted something similar myself a while ago and someone said wait till you see the next copy, all it was was a picture of a cerb, i can go outside to look at one!!

Is it because, for a lot of TVR owners the "proper" TVRS were open topped with Rover V8s. The Cerb was a low volume car that is very different.
I do not read the mag (who needs magazines* when you have the internet and PH) but I presume there is little coverage of later 90's S6 cars?

- <cough> not strictly true that

I'm afraid to say, that its not actually a very good magazine.
There is a serious dearth of technical articles, which is inappropriate as TVR owners are, by their cars' very natures, usually in possession of at least a certain amount of technical skills or interest.
What articles there are are at best shallow, or merely re-runs of previous history stories. Jools' tale there of being told his article was too long is very telling; If it was really 'too long' because it contained waffle (I doubt it) it could have been sub-edited, or if it was long because Jools had a lot of interesting things to say (more likely) it could have spanned two issues, if, indeed it really was too long for one.
Very rarely is there any feature on a particular member's car and what he's had to go through to get it to the condition it now enjoys.
There are so many technical tips that it is possible for an owner to look after - witness this excellent website - that there's no excuse for there not to be a far heavier bias towards methods of keeping the cars in the best possible condition.
Its lovely and glossy, but sadly little more than a coffee table ornament.

I dont think its as good as it could be. I feel the same way as some of the other comments made.
It takes me 5 mins to look through it and then its put down to collect dust. Definately needs more technical stuff on Cerbs. Something that'll be usefull. Would have liked to have read Jools's article.

I think you'll find that one of the problems with technical articles is the litigeous society that we currently live in!
I've experienced this before.
If the 'club' published a how-to article and some muppet either injures himself or damages his car, the club could very quickly find themself in court with the plaintiff claiming 'they told me to do it that way'.
It's a very dodgey area.
I've been thinking about writing an article about the winter prep' of my Cerb' for next years sprint season. Suspension strip-rebuild, chassis overhaul, new rims and tyres, Accusump fitting, brake overhaul, car set-up. You get the idea.

3 SUCCESSFUL installations I'll have you know
One on my own car then assisted in the recent 2 car battery swap (TC to Grahamn and vic versa), in the dark, with very basic tools, on the side of a German dual carriageway, on the recent Spa/Ring trip. I was a mechanical GOD

But I wont mention the fact that I brought along my recently purchased Power Pack jobbie, for exactly this scenario, to unpakc it all and realise Id left the cables at home and the Power Pack became a very expensive (and heavy) torch
Hey Fubes,
Didn't we work out that there were 9 Tiv owners there, none of whom had nrought jump leads ?
Share the responsibilty, man !
I am gagging out here for Cerb articles ! Sprint have just asked for more editorial staff so it seems a perfect opportunity to change the path of content ???? - don't moan, do !
