Hi
If you’ve applied Hammerite yourself you may as well Waxoyl as well, its even easier. If you have large cavity chassis members then squirt in ordinary Waxoyl. However ordinary Waxoyl is really suited for the treatment of inner chassis members and cavities and not for exposed areas or running gear as it will degrade quickly and you will have to repeat the process frequently. Hammerite also makes an excellent product which is an underseal with added Waxoyl and made for exposed areas that suffer a heavy duty. This is available from Halfords in large spray cans. Carefully applied 2 cans will do the four running gear areas. Please ignore any advice that says you must not Waxoyl or apply similar treatment because you could trap water in the chassis/tubing that will lead to corrosion. A couple of warm days will dry out most trapped water or moisture. You really can’t avoid condensation forming inside the tubing, this will happen in the cold weather due to interstitial condensation. And before I am swamped with protests, let me remind you all that the small holes in the tubing members are there to let the gases escape when the tubing is welded, and not for air circulation, indeed some get blocked up with the stoving/powder coating process anyway. If you need any further advise please e-mail me.
Kindest regards
Geoff
