well had my test rides and spent over a hour on each.

tryed the Superduke first and my impressions where "love the look of it but sounds like a meaty grass mower" and vibrated like hell. As I spent more time on it I got to enjoy the seating position, and the healthy low down Power band but found that the Superduke was either "ON or OFF". just not much in between. Very very flickable and great on the twistys but found it to be much harder than the Speed triple with the wind blast at highter speeds.
Great brakes, and great seating for a taller rider (i'm 6ft 2&quotwink
So a good test ride but the opnly downer was just outside the dealer I was at the lights in neutral waiting for the light to change, rev'ed the bike to about 4000RPM and it diead on me, I hadto result in pushing the bike out the way of cars and wait for a few mins as it did not want to start. Founds out later the Superduke is awaiting a recall for the started motor which plays up. It did this again when I stopped to have a look at the bike during the test ride

I would rate it 8/10 but for more expernace riders.

Gix 750: my first experance on a sports bike and bloody hell. I thought I was doing to suck my knees off. took a while to get used to the position but afterwards I really quite enjoyed myself. Enjoyed the 80MPH first gear which I saw twice on a local by pass. very east to ride, great engine and gearbox. And could nto hear the exhaust over the ram air induction. Under stand why sports bike riders really need ear protection.
Looks a great bike, great brakes, and glad I tryed a sports bike. I was more impressed with it then I ever thought I would be

rating: 9/10. Great price, looks, brakes, power. But will get you points on your licence
But cannot see the reason having all this power and riding position unless its going on the track.
Which I won't for maybe anothter year or so.

After these 2 test rides and already taken a ride on a Speed triple I have decided that my first choice of the speed triple is going to be my next bike. It's looks, power, brakes, comfy on commute and faster speeds,(even tha flyscreen helps a bit),and had a fantastic engine.

my next bike, still unsure of what colour to get , either orange or black

Also after the test ride then offered me a crap part ex on my fazer. So if anyones intrested in a 03 fazer PM me. I shall get around to putting it into the classifieds ASAP
I shall be selling it private and seeing if I get any deals on a new Triple at the NEC

but a great fun day non the less

Good write up. Love the look of that TRIUMPH. It look sgorgeous. However, tail tidy and there's something about the front light/clocks....kinda just hanging there!

I bet it was! Now I'm a huge fan of black (for the obvious reasons) but that orange is pretty tasty. A nice problem to have I guess!!

only thing is now having the trouble of selling the fazer privat. I usually will part and lose a bit of cash but as I have been very happy with the bike I will be a flexible but not taking stupid prices from dealers

scratchchin interesting... I'm going to change bikes in the spring, (70% commute, 25% weekend blast, 5% trackdays) tempted by

Superduke (+ve's large V2 & good seating position & styling, -ve's naked)
GSXR-750 (+ve's performance & handling & fairing, -ve's Seating position?)
Fazer 1000 (+ve's engine, handling, fairing, seating position, -ve's ???)

So its always interesting to hear people's opinions.

Can't wait to be in a position to start test riding myself!

I did the test rides now as there is not going to be many major changes to the bkes over the winter and I had a chance while it was still warm and dry

I did notice the V twin was very lumpy ( is this the norm on v-twins) but accelerated like a mad bike

Difficult to say because the only bike I've every owned is a twin. But yes, i think they are more 'agricultural' than a IL4. Looking at it from the other side of the fence; when I had a go on a IL4 I was amazed how smooth it was in comparison.

I have to say though, when I had a go on a litre twin (SV1000S) it didn't feel as nice as I expected it to. It didn't make me say wow... where a fazer 1000 put a massive grin on my face and i didn't rev past 8k (where the fun starts?). May be more to do with the bike as a package, rather than the engine though...

ETA... maybe it was very linear torque on the SV1000, made it fast, but not explosive?
