Anyone know what the Lower front Ball joint is from?

The top is Saab, but no info for the lower one.

Clever trevor sells them, but wondered what the OE application was?

Thanks

Don't know what the Cerbera uses, but other models came from Lada (a popular source because they were very late adopting MacPherson struts). Lada Riva 1200 I think would be the most likely.

UPDATE:

I have been reliably informed that these are a Jaguar item, used on many of their cars.

I have ordered a pair and will confirm if they are correct when they arrive and I can compare.

I was with Tim when he picked them up, and I beleive they were Jag items.....

I'm sure he'll be along bright & early (as opposed to dark and early - which is now) to confirm ! biggrin

Yep, these are Jag items, as used on the XJ6, amongst others, part no.: CAC9937 and Quinton Hazel: QSJ1308S

You do need to 'modify' the new item.

To clear the welds on the wishbone, the edges of the flange on the balljoint are ground away at an angle. here are a couple of pics:

Original Ball joint, note chamfer:

New Ball joint as you buy it:

Modified flange to clear welds on wishbone:

Prices range from £21 a pair to £30 each.

I bought a pair of Delphi ball joints, but managed to damage the boot while trying to fit one of them, so I popped along to my local branch of Lloyds and bought another, possibly QH, and fitted that. Obviously the mail order Delphis were half the price of the locally sourced QH.

Within a few months one of them failed, but I stupidly forgot to determine whether it was the Delphi or QH. Topcats Racing identified the failed ball joint when I took the car for a full geo setup, and that immediately fixed a clunk that I'd been hearing.

I would be tempted to pay for a Lemforder next time if they really are significantly better quality.
