My guess is 7 cars side-by-side all trying to get through the chicane. Presumably as it's 11 laps, the race was stopped and declared.

one clio came through the chicane with an engine blowing up leaving oil all over the track for the leaders to have fun on!, happend in qualyfying as well

I saw it from the pit wall. One car did half a lap pissing out oil, including the chicane and pit straight, next thing, one car piles into the barrier, followed by a group of about four more. After that, despite the flags being waved, a few other cars got seriously sideways trying to avoid hitting the already crashed ones.

Someone will probably say it was Matt Neal's fault for not letting some driver 20 yards behind him through and therefore everyone crashed into each other!!

I saw the clios race at brands not long ago and the standard of driving is pretty dire if thats anything to go by! Money + race license does not equal talent...

It was an utter corker of a race, nothing surprising caused the 7DNF's, lots of cars of the grid down to a fast section to the complex, people just started bouncing off each other.

Took a walk around the paddock later in the afternoon and there were some really heavily damaged cars! Put on a great show as normal though

That vid is of the old clios, not the new ones. So at least a year old.

I think that's about two years old in fact. There was a memorable shunt at the chicane about then when 3 cars tried to get through side by side, which ended up in at least 2 being written off.

In Qualifying Derek Pierce ripped his sump off going over the chicane, resulting in 4 cars following each other into the barrier.

In Race One it was Robert Brown who did the same, and ironically his team mate Stefan Hodgetts was one of the casualties because of the oil that he left. Hodgetts DNF gifted Martin Byford with the title!

The pile up in race one was worse than qualifying. JHR drove all the way back to Sheffield with Robert Lawson's car and reshelled it overnight.

this is from 2002 we were lucky as we pulled in a lap before with a puncher or we would of been in the middle of it
