I have a 1999 996 C4. Aerokit and all GT3 refinements apart from engine ) Looking to uprate the engine. Looked around and the fastest conversion i can get is around 340bhp for £4k. Are there any other conversions sub £10k out there that will get me more power?

...do a search. This has been discussed to death on this forum. Short answer is that Porsche have extracted about as much power as possible from the 996 engine. The cost/benefit equation does not add up. Spending £5/6k will get you maybe 20bhp more if you're lucky - most of which wouldn't translate into 'real-world' performance, as the extra bhp would only really be felt at the top end of the rev range.

Do what I did - get a Porsche Sports Exhaust. Car sounds fantastic!

I agree with argonaut, plus.... if you seriously modify the car the OPC network won't buy the car & they are usually the biggest/best purchaser of 996.
If you want more grunt get one of the facelift model's, useful extra poke, especially in gear & you get a glovebox !!!!!!!!!!!

Sure, thats the weigh up look at the cost of modifications again just buying a faster model. Have the exhaust already and yes sounds great )

I stuck an induction kit on mine - from EVO, sounds great but after the initial adrenalin rush from hearing the intake howl I have actually wondered how much of a real difference it has made. A rolling road would be the only way to determine that.

Gfreeman.......question, how much louder is the sound of the induction system inside the car,big difference or slight extra volume. Thanks for the info
