Lady and Gentlemen, I know I don't have to remind you of this but ......

Given the minimal cost a new battery adds to your annual running costs but the major hassle a failure can be to your social life (and always on the darkest, wettest nights) can I be the painful, boring, old fart that says "Go and buy a battery now before the weather changes!"
You'll have a wonderful winter for doing it.

Did it last weekend, though it was the result of a buggered one.

Shame you have to take half of the engine apart to fit a battery in a Cerb

Agreed. It is a convoluted job. Did mine this weekend to wire in flyleads for a permanent optimate connection. Hopefully this will help over the winter.

so can someone please give a definitive answer on what battery fits (now that halfords 072 batteries have changed size and no longer fit)?

I think I've said this in a previous thread so apologies if it sounds familiar, my car (not fitted by me) has a 075 in it, not definitive I know. It is not far short of the cold cranking capacity of the 072 (something like 550a Vs 580a) but it is smaller than the battery cubicle (and the 072), so it needs a bit of 'wood' to take up the slack in there. It cranks my higher compression lump no problems. Check one out at Halfrauds taking your tape measure hehe.
