I'm not so sure a 400 would have much of an advantage (other than RWD vs FWD) my old 400 had just under 180BHP at the wheels. It was exactly the same speed as my friends Elise 111S, which in turn was virtually the same as a civic type R.

If the honda is on the right cam you'd be supprised how little there is between them.

Just bought my chim 400 and had my first traffic light grandprix against a Integra type R last week end. Neck and neck all the way to 90......., surprising, although i did not give it death!!! off the line as it were........... at least mine sounded better that a type R!

Theres a couple of young fellers got them typr R wotsits in my village, yup they are b***dy quick but in my experience dont have it in the corners, theres a bend preceding a downhill straight leading into the village and they've yet to match my 90 mph in the bend (4.0). Could be the car , could be the dimension of the tatties!!

scratchchin...hmmm...in my opinion the Tam would pull away - if not immediately then once you got up to 60-70

I've 'danced' with both and the Tam is quicker IMHO

I had a Clio 16v I couldn't shake off a while ago which I was most unhappy about until I found out that it was far from standard later on!

One of the reasons I sold my Elan in favour of my 500 Chim was because the Hondas could eat the Elan in a straight line. Corners of course were a different thing, the Elan was just superb.
But my 500 Chim doesn't seem to have the same problem losing the Type R's. Haven't tangled with one yet that comes close!!

Speaking from experience i can safely say the Type R will trounce any RV8 TIV on track, admittedly an Integra Type R. Its what the Honda is built for.

On the road any 450/500 Chim will easily hold its own against a Type R, even my friends S2000 is easily out performed on Road. I have driven a Type R on a track day & due to braking in particular (ABS) you were all over the TIV's in the corners then lose out accelerating along the straights before gaining again under braking, every TIV relented & let the Type R through.

I guess 99% of us drive on road & the TIV will perform better, on track the screamy Honda is in its element.

The problem I find with the Civic Type R and also the Seat Leon Cupra R is that you pull away - no question - in a Chimaera 500 until you hit whatever speed you are happy to exceed the posted limit by, and then (on a dual carriageway at least) the little hooligans pass you and go farting off into the distance. Well, it's your licence sonny - good luck to you. You haven't "won", you've just elected to exceed the limit by a greater margin than I.

That's what it all boils down to these days.
