So it would appear that at last the Cerb has developed a Kitt-like power to move without driver input, as can be seen here on the M4 this afternoon...

Driverless!

Alas the truth is that it was on the back of an AA truck:

About 5 hours after calling the AA

No mechanical breakdown but frustratingly as a result of a rather large nail from the Millenium Dome finding its way through the rear offside tyre, out the side wall and damaging the alloys as a result frown Managed to get from the Dome to Chelsea Embankment courtesy of two cans of tyre weld.

If you need a place to break down in London, I can recommend Chelsea Embankment - it was a lovely place to watch the world and lots of nice motors (loads of Astons, loads of Ferraris, two Lambos, one GT40, one McLaren SLR, one TVR) go by thumbup

A lovely spot for awaiting recovery

Unlucky mate - the AA didn't really take five hours to get it on a truck did they?

There's something very ironic about waiting for a tow truck with "Boo Hoo" as the registration.

Did you quickly slip that plate on when the nail went through smile or is that the regular plate ?

BLUETHUNDER - yes it was pretty flat!! It was the first time I've used Tyre Weld and I was pretty impressed with it. The tyre felt fine going through Westminster, but just gave out going past Chelsea Bridge.

S2 - in truth it didn't take 5 hours for the truck to turn up but it did take the AA 4 and a half hours to agree to send a truck! They wanted to send someone to take the wheel off the car, drive with me to KwikFit in Richmond, fit the tyre (KF didn't have any Goodyears so I wasn't happy with that) and drive back to fit the wheel. Since they were offering me the opportunity to get going again I wasn't entitled to Relay. They sent a patrol guy to try and repair the tyre (he couldn't) but he then persuaded them I should be at least relayed to KwickFit as I was stopped on a red route and at half three I got a call saying this is what they *would* do, but KF shut at 4, so would it be OK if I was relayed home?

RUSSELM - scratchchinidea I think I might keep a 'B' sticker in the boot for these occasions!
