If Alonso wins the title !

Oh but he's already won...

I think it's a bit far fetched to think he'll be without a drive next season.

I think even Flav / Renault will turn him and the No.1. away !
Briatore has already stated publicly that he would love to get Alonso back.No surprise there - Flav is not exactly a "principle-above-self-interest" kind of guy.
You'd have to be on crack to think taht any team wouldn't kill to have Alonso next year. With the exception of Ferrari, who already have two top drivers signed up, the world is his Lobster.
Renault would welcome hm back with open arms. His relationship withthe team was superb and everyone loved him there.
I think some people on here have been reading the Sun, or watching ITVs coverage (they're about the same level of interlect) a bit too much. The Hamilton/Alonso row isn't nearly as one sided as most peopl think.

No they didn't, trust me on that. There are also some elements of the Alonso/McLaren story that are not public. If they were, your opinion of him might change a little...he has promised to reveal all once the season has ended....I await with baited breath to see whether everything is indeed revealed (which I bet it isn't).Renault would welcome hm back with open arms. His relationship withthe team was superb and everyone loved him there.
I agree that I can't see Renault blocking a move to take Alonso back - whether they want to fund what it might cost is perhaps an issue. But a two and potentially three time World Champion? Got to be worth having in anyone's books....
I would also agree that FA's relationships at Renault weren't great - he did a lot of slagging them off in the press and that can't go down well with the boys who have to put the wheels on his car and make it go well.
I'd love to know what you know though Rubystone?!

Judging by FA's actions this season I can't see him wanted to reveal all after next weekend.
to go with this: http://www.planetf1.com/story/0,18954,3261_2800191...
"So there lies in store a fascinating off-season as we wait to see the fate and future of Fernando Alonso. Because from a negotiation point-of-view Dennis is in a very strong position. The F1 contracts board now rules with a rod of iron and unless there's mutual agreement, Alonso can go nowhere.
Dennis already has one driver capable of winning a World Championship and doesn't necessarily need another of the same skill. He'd like one of course, because F1 team managers are greedy by nature, but it's not going to be like the Renault team of 2007 with two No.2 drivers.
Which means that he's not obliged to make a decision about 2008 until very late, if at all. He has two contracted drivers. If Renault want Alonso to come back (and it was a major blunder to let him go in the first place) then they have to make the running in a very short space of time."

Here here...I think far too many are commently while wearing ross-tinted glasses...
Surely the best course of action is for Ron to let Alonso go....but very, very late. This would have a destabilising effect on the driver market for a number of teams.
Alonso (and anyone affected by his move) would have virtually no time to test next years race cars, while I am sure Lewis would be more than happy to do most of the testing for McLaren (giving himself defacto Number 1 Status, as the car would be completely designed around him)
Ron holds all of the cards in the contract stakes... if he lets him go, Alonso/Renault need to buy out his contract, if he doesn't he ends up with a (admittedly bolshy) 2 (or 3) time world champion.

It's going to take a one-hundred foot ladder for Alonso to climb out of the hole that he's dug for himself. If he's got facts to reveal that would truly change how people view his behaviour this year, they had better be good!motormania said:

I don't see that Alonso is in any hole whatsoever. As the best current F1 driver everyone, except Ferrari, would like to have him.
McLaren would like to have him but seem to have mismanaged the situation in typical Ron fashion.
Alonso is only unpopular with a few brainwashed jingoistic Brits, which in the overall scheme of things counts for nothing.
