Hi There

Im after abit of advise, Im just in the process of building a Blown injected small block chevy, Im after some advise on what compression pistons to use? I hear many different things, I was thinking about 8.5-1 ? Having never ran a methanol blown motor im new and on a steep learning curve! Im using a standard stroke with standard size rods (5.7) the blocks +30 with standard deck height, Any advise would be highly appreciated, also any advise on running a blown methanol injected beast would also be very welcome.

Many thanks

Mat

We have ran as high a 13:1 in past but I would aim for low 11's the higher the comp, more critical the tune up.

O-ring the block now and save your self LOADS of grief, like Jon says copper HG.

Definetly run a stud girdle

Biggest part of maintenance is going to be your valvetrain depending on how hard you plan you revving the motor?

JE make a very nice piston, very light.

Depending on your heads you want something like these

Go for 10 or 11:1 & keep it mild in that respect.

I'd also consider using a custom made blown alcohol piston.

Those off the shelf pistons are not designed to have a load of boost on top of them.

You need 2618 material, full roound skirt, top ring well down the piston & a thick deck (blower piston) design.
