Went through a red light

Well, not properly. Just mosying along on way to work in 30 zone. Ped.crossing red light goes on, I slow down smoothly and well in time from say 100 yards back. Fellow crosses road and leaves crossing sooner and cuts out into bus stop which is empty bar him now entering it.

Seems I've been sat a long while, lights themselves out of view so can't see them from where I'm sat (back in seat), but crossing is clear, no other peds anywhere near, and as said been sat there a fair while so set off, guy behind hasn't yet, notice the light is just going red > amber flashing in nearside wing mirror, doh!

So, just wondering what those weird camera looking things on traffic lights are!? Not a proper camera, look more like an IR sensor with an oversized panel of dark glass over the front!?

Guessing your average ped.crossing lights don't have camera's on!?
