I've picked up, perhaps wrongly, that TVR's are quite specialist when it comes to insurance. i.e. a high likelihood of being written off etc.

With a view to this, are their companies that specialise in TVR insurance, i.e. are a lot of you guys and girls insured through a few people?

Also, are premiums for TVR's higher than for other comparable performace cars?

I seem to be getting high quotes back on the research i'm doing, which is what made me wonder if there's some favoured insurers, or whether it's jsut a fact that the premiums are high.

Thanks in advance.

A.Manning and A-Plan, which I believe are the traditional TVR insurance specialists, both turned out more expensive for me than just using Flux. Bizarely, I'm only paying a smidgin (12% to be exact) more on a 4.5 Cerbera than I was quoted by the same company on my old Toyota Celica shed (valued at £200!). The algoriths they use for working out insurance premiums sometimes throw up the wierdest comparatives.

BTW - when the mrs tried to get quotes on the Cerb, Elephant and Tescos worked out to be the cheapest...

You need to define what you call high price and what mileage, points etc you have.

I'm insured with Direct Line very competative price and good when I made a problem recently.
(Not my fault damaged by a car whilst parked up and 3rd party admitted liability)

Thanks guys,

To clarify, 24 yo male. No convictions, no accidents, 6 years history, 6 years NCB. Paying £900 on a 3.2 TT2 through Elephant. Car is kept on the street in SW6 and has Tracker. 12,000 miles per year of SCP&C & business use by myself.

Quote from Elephant for a T350 / Sag was just over £2,000. Several others came in around this mark too.

Now it could be that i've just got the TT cheap i guess. Waiting for A-plan to call me back tomorrow with a quote.

Only problem with Hagerty they only do 2nd car insurance so if its your only car then you can't insure with them, but you will save a forture in you can.

Get a quote from Hagerty insurance, as they specialize in tvrs, i think you need to be a tvr club member though

Nope you dont need to be a TVRCC member. I've insured mine throught them as getting quotes of £2000 from everyone else, whereas Hagerty only charged £340 (inc breakdown) which includes it living on my drive.

At the time I wasn't a TVRCC member, but they did ask whether I was a PH member, which I was.
