I had a clock die on me once so I took it apart to have a look at its internals or with a view to swapping over the bezel as it had been polished whereas the replacement one I had was still painted black.
Suffice to say I ended up spending hours polishing the bezel on the replacement clock as I couldn't get the old one off without knackering it.
