Hi all..

Could some please explain what a Purge Tank does.. and when moving to an aftermarket ECU, do I need to considered how to control the valve.

Not too sure if I can leave it disconnected.. or even wire it permanently open.

Many thanks

Purge tank is normally for engine breathing (catch tank) isn't it?

I think you are referring to the Evaporative emissions control system, look up Carbon Cannister & Purge valve, been described on here a couple of times. It is possible to remove it I think, it is one of those 'manufacturer only' regulations. put that down to senility wink

If you do remove it, make sure you leave the tank cap seal in. (This is a MOT check in the UK) And also ensure the tank vent can't blow petrol vapour on to anything flamable!

There are ECUs which can control the purge can. (MS is one of them IIRC)
