I am sending out an increasing number of Orders on Pallets. Does any one know of the cheapest way of delivering Pallets. The quantity is probably 5 - 10 a month but increasing.

Cheers Sean

Sean,

Have a look for your nearest, local frieght carriers - e.g. Nightfreight or Palletways. These types of companies group your freight to shift it around the country, rather than do the door -to-door courier/haulier type stuff (generally more expensive for smaller loads) and offer a nationwide coverage, normally on a next working day basis.

At the rate of 5 to 10 per month, you're not going to be anyone's biggest customer, so local is the key, otherwise they'll let you down with collections or simply quote daft rates.

You'll also need to look carefully at pallet weights and sizes to get the best rate. As a general rule, if you can keep to europallet size, under 500kgs, then you should not have problems with rates, or with people wanting your business. If it's significantly bigger or heavier stuff - often known in the trade as 'ugly freight' - then you may want to compare rates with a bog-standard haulier.

Hope this helps.

You need to talk to operators who do groupage, such as Brian Yeardley or Bowkers etc.

There are loads out there - Oops!
