I know what he paid for it and at this price it must represent the best VFP ever, surely?

http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/172994.htm

Why is it not selling? Has the market for Anniversarios collapsed?

Did it sell today then?

It sold 'cos his girlfriend didn't like it - she owned a Diablo before. That's what he told me, at any rate.

At that money it was a good buy, regardless of colour yes

If not sold just today then since the weekend at the earliest...

The new owner is very much cock and indeed a' hoop and is well into the 'staring at it for hours on end' phase... which usually lasts for a few years...

I wish I'd bought it.......

The Countach is THE epitomy of a supercar - everyone always argues about what a supercar is, and to be honest it's really hard to define (so don't bother?) but imho, the only car ever that is a supercar with no arguament is the Countach !

I had to add that I've just looked at the ad.....

stunning !

the anniversay has very over stated styling, and I probably prefer the earlier models, but you can't escape the fact that all Countaches are stunning.

What a car, hope the new owner enjoys it !!!!!!!!!!!

If it did sell at that price then it was indeed a real bargain. I think the colour scheme was it's problem. It's a definate love it or hate it combination, particularly the interior. Those that don't like it wouldn't consider it, especially at market value. Those that do like it would probably worry about resale problems. How many posts do we see from people concerned that a car they like is the wrong colour for resale etc.?
Whatever, I'm glad the car has a new owner who loves it, and any Countach is a fantastic machine to own. Another person who has realised a dream maybe? The very best of luck to him or her smile

That car, won't post it on the "what is the most complete car" thread currently on the go in GG but this is the one for me.

Appalling visibility to the extent of almost no rear view at all, muscles on muscles needed to push the pedals for any extent of time around town, almost zero comfort...

Had a picture on my wall of one when I was a kid, looked at it for ages. Will own one, hopefully in the next two years. Top stuff wink

Even like the colour although wouldn't be my first choice. All models way ahead of their time and still make necks snap now.

Kudos to the new owner, if you're reading please enjoy it as I am deeply jealous!!

i know what you are saying about the colour combo, But the leather is grey underneath the blue dye, It has been conolized and you can see the grey in some places, grey would look better,

Whilst I can't say who now owns the car in public, it's no secret that the new owner is a long-standing Lamborghini Club UK Member (since many a yonk ago!) and, yes, he also knows that being a Club Member has eased his access to the car in a number of ways!

The best route into a Lamborghini that's not in the first flush 'n' blush is via LCUK.

You can find the Club at www.lamborghiniclubuk.com (which is soon to be revitalise and relaunched and will be even better than ever!) or by sending some of the folk in the Club who are also here on PistonHeads a small bribe of some many a bundle of thousands of euros...

No, sorry, that's what those other clubs want! For info. about LCUK you could just send any of us a PM via PistonHeads... 'we' and 'us' being myself (XXVIII) and BossCerbera and LamboChick and Mystic amongst many others!! - none of us bite or snarl very much!

i have to be honest im quite partial to looking for a jalpa as another car to add to the esprit, something else to work on and get to concours level.

i have read up on the few problems they suffer namely the engine mounts , ignition upgrades, where to look for rust, sorting out the brake booster etc..

the jalpa i looked over at supercar sunday was very nice, and the owner talked with me in great detail about it and servicing, running costs etc.

i would love a countach at some point with the tall man modification done, but for now the baby countach is more in my reach so in the new year i may just be on the look out for one. i have seen the silver one thats listed by the top gear car site, anyone have any info on it?

At that price it was a very cheap anniversary. Good luck to the new man (or woman), lovely bit of kit.

God they are gorgeous ... I just don't think I could afford to run one for say 10k miles a year weekend use.

Are things like clutches and so on ridiculously priced like I hear they are on the newer models ... like £7k per clutch? or is that just myth?

A Countach clutch would be pushing £3k fitted (I think)... I'm sure Carrera Sport can do a great job for a bit less though... (is that advertising and does it sound like I think people should use Mike's place for such work? Not intended, just a statement of something like 'fact'!)

There is a Jalpa available for a bit of a refurb via LCUK and another one is around and about somewhere in the midlands which may also need a bit of work to make brilliant once again... (please see earlier post re. contacting LCUK!)

Thank you for your kind words!

Obviously, 'obscure' is the new 'cool' cool

especially when there were only ever 327 cars like mine made (177 Jarama and 150 'Jarama S') and certainly less than 7 of the later 'S' format are still alive in the UK...

I spoke to the new owner of this Anniversary earlier this evening - he tells me that someone had been messing about with the placed advert to attract lots of test-pilot/clothhead offers and make his life a misery!

The actual sale price was on or near current market value and the previous owner has been busy shaving his head as otherwise he'd be pulling all his hair out anyway with all the calls he's had - some people are just needlessly malicious - why? (This question can be applied almost anywhere, I don't have a copyright on it but all donations gratefully accepted!)
