Compressing problem!

Ok you chaps!

Need a bit of advice here from all you experts out there!

Have:

New LS7 to fit

but previously bought the aircon kit which comes with compressor....and the problem?

Well...it has a different pulley etc.

Talked to Ted today who helpfully informed me that they use the Chevvy compressor, followed by a pregnant pause (Thanks Ted)!

So...do I throw away the compressor and have to buy a chevvy one, then find the right connectors for the original pipes....or is there a better way?

Anyone done a conversion, or is it too much of a hassle?

you are not going to like this answer because of the money involved. A merican speed sells a full kit pulleys compresor altenator and belts for $1600. The kit is polished ali. Lee

Get ahold of....wait for it....Jeff Schwartz. Use a 2005 or 2006 (USA) Pontiac GTO LS2 compressor along with Jeff's mounting bracket and hose adapter. Standard (I think) LS7 belt tensioner.

You can use the stock unit with a different pulley, but I think the mounting needs mods too. Jeff can send you a pulley for stock unit.

I am probably going with the GTO compressor. It's got to be a better design than the Seltec that came with my A/C kit. From what I understand, they size the compressor by the number of cubic feet to be cooled. The Pontiac unit should also provide more/better cooling based on cubic feet.

Any Idea where I could get some from?

Keith, I would send an email to Jeff at [e-mail]. Jeff sent the lift brackets with the engine. Sorry I can not be more help.

Would you kindly measure the dimensions of your brackets, including the width of the bolt holes, cos I might be able to get some made!

Are they exactly the same both ends but of course handed?

Keith, after looking at the compressor more, I came to the conclusion that Jeff had to do some engineering to make it work. There are at least 4 different spacers and at least that many bolts and nuts. Not to mention the belt size, motor mount modifications and the compressor bracket itself. Being a business owner myself and having respect for Jeff work and engineering, I would respectfully request that you contact Jeff and let me provide you with the information or parts that you needed.
