It had to happen eventually

I got flashed yesterday at below 40 (still in first gear) in a 30 limit. I'm tempted to whinge bitterly but it was my mistake - anyone who can be "trapped" by a yellow painted box in full view deserves to get caught. There were circumstances leading to this momentary excessive speed but none that change the fact that I broke a limit I knew about near a camera that I could see.
My question is this: Rumour has it that if you pick up six penaulty points within the first two years of passing your test you automatically loose your license. I've had my car license for decades and have never had any points, but I only passed my bike test last year. Will I lose my license if I get six points? (unlikely for the sort of speed I was doing but you never know)
It was a forward facing camera and only flashed once - does this mean it was working or not?

I think you might get away with this!
The 6 point rule won't effect your bike ticket!

If it's a Truvelo they only take one photo, cos teh speed is measured by piezo-thingy strips in the road surface - unlike Gatso, which use a visual reference of lines painted on the ground, and need two photos to get the speed=distance/time thing sorted out.

Arse - that sounds like the bugger. I'm screwed then. Do these things need film or are they digital?
Incidentally Mrs Muppet had her feet on the dash (cooling her toes with the aircon) - if the angle was right can I have a go at the authorities for taking obscene pictures? I could insist they destroy the evidence

It is not rumour

Depends on the type of camera.
Was it a gatso? If so then you will be ok
Was it a truvello? If so then one photo will do!

I'm not so sure, it's takes a lot of concentration to unlearn the "bad" habits that most people pick up, e.g. not crossing your arms etc. and I'm convinced that a good percentage of drivers don't understand some road signs even though they must have leanred them at some stage.
I thought Truvelos had an IR flash, so you couldnt see it? I thought that was how they could get away with taking a front facing picture - eg, cos it wont blind you.
A good way of knowing what type of camera it was is by the colour - Truvelos are bright blue, with a large round 'eye' - whereas GATSOs are grey with a square 'eye'.
i think?

The camera was yellow - how blind am I not to have seen it? Still feeling stupid.
There were no markings on the road so it wasn't a Gatso AFAIK.
AFAIK, Gastos are the only ones painted yellow (generally on the back) and take rearward facing photographs with a visible double flash and markings on the road.
If you were flashed by a yellow-painted, front facing camera with one visible flash and no markings on the road ... then someone else will have to explain it.
Where was it and in which direction were you travelling?
Streaky

Update (like anyone cares): No ticket, no points.
I can still be smug about my shiny clean license after all these years and pretend that a lack of points means I'm an ace driver.
Now, can I make it through another winter driving an MR2...
if it was forward facing, and your on a bike with no front number plate.....
go as fast as you like past it!! how do you reckon they could ever find out it was you???
