Forum or blog?
Discussion
Just curious. I know it's the off season and everything, but yet again the forum seems to be filling up with garbage one line posts linking to stories we're all perfectly capable of finding for ourselves if we so wish.
Is this a discussion forum or just a drag racing Digg spinoff?

I did start a thread for all the posts that were purely links. However, it's yet to be made a sticky, and the primary poster of such items, after the first surge of posts, has since ignored it and carried on posting link after link after link.
The solution for this, as they would say in the Pie & Piston, Nuke them from orbit, it's the only way to be sure.
There'll be a thread filled of new piccies of a nitro slingshot soon though...

I don't see why we even need a stickied links thread, to be honest. Most, if not all of the users of this forum will know the primary Worldwide drag racing sites, and they generally have links and related sites. Failing that, there's a little thing called Google. I'm getting sick of pointless posts consisting of regurgitated news items or pointless bo
ocks like "thinking of going to a big event? Book a hotel room!". No shit.
To the primary poster, in all seriousness and without wishing to sound rude, for the love of God please just stop. You are ruining the forum. If you want to post links to news stories, start a blog, then you can indulge your attention whore tendency without irritating everyone else.

And people wonder why I spend more time in the P&P and other forums rather than in here
You could of course ignore his threads. It's fairly certain you're not going to miss out on anything after all.
Or if it really winds you up click on the little "report" button, although as irritating as it is I'm not sure he's actually breaking any rules.

Tried it, but it gets difficult when they occupy half the front page.crikey said:

Already have, and I doubt I'm alone. If it bothers ppl that much then why even bother to come on here, I mean, if all your going to do is moan and groan about what others want to post, but then expect ppl to quite happily read what you have put and then respond to it in a half decent mannor, like saying there will be a thread full of piccies soon, who cares, no one may want to see them but you'll post it regardless because thats what happens on a forum. ppl post things, sometimes useful sometimes not, but if it doesn't appeal to you then simply don't read it, end of problem, but then again certain ppl like to think there a cut above the rest and have some authority over other less popular members.
It's not a case of not liking what someone else is posting in terms of subject matter, as the posts have no subject matter. I can't ignore or disagree with the content that doesn't exist. I could disregard it were it only a post or two every now and again, but it's not, it's continual and it has become hugely irritating.

lf you've never been to an NHRA event, try booking an hotel/motel room and cancelling later, apart from a few hotel/motel chains you'll not get a penny refunded. If you book through Expedia and you don't turn up, you'll be charged the full amount.
My American friends have the privilege of booking hotel/motel rooms up to a year in advance and cancelling up to 48 hrs without any charges.

I've just checked the first two pages of the forum, and there are nine topics where you've done nothing but post a link to another site. At one stage there were six on the first page alone, none of which generated any replies at all. I'm desperately trying to avoid making it personal, but it's become utterly tedious, adds nothing to the forum and frankly smacks of attention seeking.

Ok.
Hornet never said anything about booking a room, he was quoting you.
Hornet never said anything about cancelling a room.
"My American friends". Have you got a link to a website with a list of them on it ?
When are you going to learn FFS.
Did it ever occur to some of the keyboard hitlers on this site that believe it or not, they dont own it. I've looked at some of NM'S threads and dont see a problem with them, i personally dont have time to surf the net for links because i'm actually working on my car a lot of the time.

TBH some of the links I find interesting, as if you have a life and don't spend the whole time looking at the internet and moaning you don't see some of the stuff he puts up.
And while Im havin me rant, most of the posts on here are full of crap anyway. It only normally gets interesting if somebody who knows what their talking about (Bob Jarrett, Peter Knight etc, even dare I say it Besty comes out with good info sometimes lol) comes on and replies to a post.
So, Nitro keep posting your links, everyone can either read or ignore
rant off!!
