Bloody gorgeous! They're simply the best, end of. (so good they even supply that Wiley Ol' Texan!). Add engine for £5k and your done wink

Watch out trying to deal direct - sole UK distributor Hawk are very territorial...and to be fair, Hawk will be able to guide you through SVA troubles.

  • edit* Jeez just looked at the sale page - that's a hell of a deal, why would you buy anything else!
I'm drooling.... http://www.kirkhammotorsports.com/49995/index.html

By the time it's landed and duty paid and you have bought a decent 427FE motor and gearbox and put it on the road you won't get much change out of £45K if any change at all.

Still an absolute bargain though.

Hmmm? $13,900 vs $8,900 = £10,000 ? Not quite, try $5,000 or £2,500 plus the vat and duty savings so realistic figure nearer to £3,000.
IMHO not worth it if building a Kirkham.

Kit.......£25000
eng+box...£12000
Shipping £2000
Duty@ 4.2% £1600
VAT@ 17.5% £7100
SVA........£ 160
Reg.........£150
Heaters.....£150
Misc........£500
Total....£48,700

And that is for a filed finish. Add what you like for paint or polish.

Why not? People will pay well over £30K for fibreglass, a chevy lump and virtually every detail 'wrong', LOL! (not having a dig - look at Hallmark and Sovereign)

Kirkham...£25000
Shipping...£1000
428FE......£4800 500BHP + landed in Essex from Fastco (sounds right, goes right, right badge and looks about right)
Tremec TKO..£980 landed in Essex from Fastco
Duty@ 4.2% £1334
VAT@ 17.5% £5794
SVA........£ 160
Reg.........£150
Heaters.....£150 (?)
Misc........£500 (?)
Total.....£39868 (£48700 - £39868 = £9K cheaper wink )

Paint? Are you mad??!!!

You may be right, I just feel that anyone who goes down the Hawk/Kirkham route would want EVERYTHING correct, personally as a cruiser myself I could see the saving using the ample performance of a 428 or a stroked 390 FE, but.. people buy cars for two reasons

1) To drive
2) And then to sell on.

And many customers are going to expect the whole nine yards..

£1000 shipping? You can get a 20ft container from Utah to your door for £1000 and insured?

A 428 from Fastco. You pays your money...... Remember "Apples with apples"
SA sell a 428 for £4450+ shipping. But I am talking 427.

Does your gearbox include the clutch mechanism slave cylinder and bell housing?

What do you intend doing with the body, just leave it filed?

When it comes to kirkham it's not about how cheap you can get it, it's about how Right you can get it.........Or so they say!

I'm not guessing at my prices, they are on the button. The car should be here by mid November, but don't tell anyone ;o)

Runt - We'll have to agree to disagree. I think the number of acurate (shell, interior, running gear) replicas in the UK would suggest that isn't the case, to me anyways (can you cite any?). Maybe Dave can shed some light on it by how many of his customers have specified full acuracy on a build ( as far as possible e.g. toploader, side oiler, all body features, rivets, hardware etc, trim and knock offs)

Dave - fair play - you got me - I did guess at shipping kind of. I had a quote to ship a GTO replica from the states to Essex and it was about a grand so that's what I used. BUT Fastco's figures are from the horses mouth - the TKO pics show box and clutch kit but I haven't asked (cos I'm not buying).

BTW, are you saying there's a problem with Fastco?

Re: What is right for Kirkham, well they do have recommendations on their site (as neither of us have actually built one it's good starting point!) "We recommend engines from the Ford FE (390, 427, 428...) or Windsor (289, 302, 351W) families depending on which replica you build....We recommend either the Ford 4-speed Top Loader or a Tremec 5-speed"

Or you could look at their customers cars I suppose - how many 427's vs other FE family members there are?

Right I give up now! I think the point of this thread originally was to show that a Kirkham was within reach of those looking at a top end UK build, as opposed to trying to make a Kirkham look unattainable within the budget of a top end Dax build. rolleyes
