Heater control stiff

For some while the lower control that alters the direction of air on my Chim has been getting stiffer and stiffer to move.
Having removed the top of the dash I discovered that the screw holding the cable onto the notched wheel had come undone (but not completely, the result being that the screw head was rubbing against the mounting bracket.
Having looked at it I didn't feel like dismantling the whole control but by removing the mounting bracket I was able to tighten the screw using a pair of long nosed pliers on the side of the screw head.
Problem solved, all that remained was to replace the top of the dash, have a bacon sarnie, and then take the car for a 60 mile test drive.
If all this sounds like double Dutch when I get time I will do a bit on this with pics, and send them to Alex to put on The Chimaera Pages
