Next door neighbour got a NIP yesterday for the traffic light camera on the A580 at Worsley. Speed through red light = 0 mph! He doesn't actually remember it flashing at him, but thinks that the traffic had come to a stop and then the lights changed, leaving the front of his car 2 feet over the line, where he remained as the lights were now on red. Is it worth him challenging this in the courts?

This happened to me some time ago in central London. I didn't get a NIP, just a letter telling me not to do it again.

I thought they only activated if you moved over the line at red,not if you were already there....

I thought they got you over the line regardless of whether you were there before the lights changed?

Red light cameras(RLC) work by taking 2 photos. One as you cross the line and a 2nd as you cross the junction. If you look at gatsometer.com it shows this so if you cross the line and stop before crossing the junction you will not be prosecuted.
