i currently run 18" rl's on my car, love them and i think they are with out doubt the best looking wheel for the cerb.
had a slow puncture on the o/s/f, so today decided to mend it, took the wheel off and shite the inside of the rim is cracked.
i know it could be repaired but knowing how weak these rims are i'm thinking its time for a change.
spider's are out of the question
loved fubar's new rims-but not sure on a cerb
want to stay with 18's as my tyres are brand new
think that leaves the sp12's
just can't make my mind up, oh and i want them in anthacite as it really goes with a gold car
got the saturn's back on at the moment and it looks crap,
so come on chaps give me some inspiration
thanks dan

On the Silverstone Performance web site, or look up Team Dynamics.

The Sp12 is a modified Team dynamics rim. You pay a lot for the modifications, I guess that's the problem with limited demand.

Only seem to be available in 8.5inch width, which doesn't really work up front. The SPs are 8 front and 9 rear to deal with the tyre balance - I would look for the same in a replacement wheel.

Why is this a problem? I think the stock front spiders are 8.5" wide and the car isn't too bad on them.

The 18" RL's were prone to cracks.

Bad? Not really, but the front tyre is stretched across the width, badly exposing the rim...

not correct, there is a wide variety of fitments available, no shortage of which would suit the cerbera well, ill dig out a proper spec sheet in a sec, listing all available 5X114.3 fitment options, for now, heres a quick example

I'd go with that. You can get a lot of Jap' fittment wheels onto the Cerb, as the bolt pattern is common between them. You'll need a locating ring because the centre bore of the wheel will likely be larger than that of Cerb wheels. For the XD9s shown, ACT have had the TVR specific tooling made by Work, so in this case, you'd probably be better buying through them. However there are loads of other Japanese wheels well worth a look too, some are seriously light (with a price to match!). Getting something that suits the car is much harder than getting something that will fit.

Steve.

never a truer word spoken!

I'm still looking, needs to

A) fit in such a way that proper clearances (inner and outer) are observed - in effect this means getting the right combination of offset and rim width (they go hand in hand)

B) be at least as light, strong, and cost-effective as the popular options (spiders, sp12s)

C) availability - be available to buy and replaceable should the need arise - avoid shipping/customs costs where possible by buying UK

D) look like it belongs, as steve says... this is the hard bit, and very subjective smile

E) be easy to keep clean (if you keep a clean car and ever owned rims with loads of spokes, you'll know what I mean!) - so 5 spokes are preferable!

I havent found something that I think satisfies all the above yet! , so far I think the best options I've seen are the work emotion range (theres about 5 different styles) or OZ superleggeras

www.rotawheels.com

I took the decision to upgrade to 18" Spiders. But I was also considering the SVN model of Rota. A very nice wheel. It is a copy of the Volk E30 wheel.

Another option was the nurburgring from ultralight (www.srbpower.com). The 18*8,5 with ET35 wil fit as I tried them on mine. Would have been nice to fit the 9,5 wide on the rears, but I do not think this will be a good fit. With a offset of 35mm, I think 9J is the maximum.

Rota has a 18*9 et 35 in the SVN model. Go ahead and have a look in reality. It often shows different from the picture.

Another option is the Enkei, I think the NCTC01. But where can you find dealers. Good rimwidhts and good offsets for the Cerbera. Very nice wheel.

thanks for that info, do you know whether at this width, it was the inside or outside clearance that started to run out? maybe scope for a 9.5 if the offsets are shifted to move clearance inward or outward?

The ultralite ATEC-II looks like it might be ok on the cerb from a cosmetic standpoint. It look similar to the spider and the spoke are less 'square' than the ATEC (which still look ok).

To give you an answer on that Alan, I tried the Ultralight in 18*8,5J with an offset of 35mm. I jacked the rear suspension up and came to the conclusion that this would be a fit. Then I put 12mm wood between the hub and the same wheel to simulate how the 9,5mm would come out. I came to the conclusion that this would be too wide. The wheel would come out of the body too much. I know there are some guys who drive 19*9,5J with an offset of 35mm. Maybe you should ask them their opinion. I wouldn't do it. Tim from ACT has work emotion cr wheels on his cerbera. On the rear he has 18*9,5J with 38mm offset. Very nice wheels, but a bit too expensive for me. Tim told me the tires sometimes rub in the arch. Paticularly on the driverside. But only when when he bumps into something. According to Tim this is something he can live with.

You could also have a look on the 5Zigen website and look for, I think it was the ZR520 Proracer. Also very nice wheels and reasonably affordable. Offset of 37mm max though. Do not know what the inner clearance is when you would find 9,5J with an offset of 40mm. Wish you luck in finding a wheel like that and a wheel that looks the business.

Therefore the SVN from Rota was a good option with 9J and 8J on the fronts. The 8J is also a better width for the 225 fronttires. The Ultralites mentioned by someoneelse here are also available ion the 9J width. I think even with an offset of 38mm.

It is all about taste and the few available wheels there are, which are wide enough en do not rub.
