A friend of mine had an idea for an online time capsule and has asked me for my views on the website he has had created.

What do you think?

wwwDOTuktimecapsuleDOTcoDOTuk

I think there should be a 'demo capsule' to show what you get for your money as its not very clear atm.

Otherwise with the budget he has had I think its quite a clean nice looking site.

Edit: Hope this isnt breaking any rules, its not in the 'live promoting stage' yet just want opionions.

Interesting! First impression is it looks good.

If your friend doesn't want the site to appear in searches he should really put a robots.txt file in there to stop them. Google will still find it.. As will others.

I thought about something like this ages ago and came to the conclusion that I can't see anyone parting with their money for it.

So many people keep snapshots of their life online in so many free ways that I can't see it working.

I could be wrong... hell I usually am. Just saying, you can have x0000's of people telling you it's great, and the same x0000's of people will gladly spend 3.50 every day on a sandwhich, but, try and get £1.00 out of them for an online service and they sit back in their chair and scratch their chin trying to work out if it's worth it, and usually before they get to their conclusion they are off doing something else.

What I'm saying is - it's a nice idea, but personally, I would do it for free, and try and make revenue elsewhere - i.e. advertising off the site for say geneologists etc... That I would think, would be his best bet.

The site looks clean, although it took a long time to initially load - is he home hosting it or have a url redirect or something? And I think you need a lot more detail of what you'd get, with examples etc.

Concept is okay, I guess there are free public areas and pay for private ones.. There seem to be a number of competitors out there already though..

Nice idea and with good branding it may capture people's imagination but why did he choose a .co.uk and why put UK in the URL??? Just limits the crowd. In my experience, Yanks aren't keen to invest/use sites that aren't '.com'. Your friend should take the concept and just make a more international version.. nice site

Sorry,

I don't get it, there does not appear to be enough of an explanation on the site so that potential customers can work out what they are getting.

For my 9.99, am I renting an on line storage facility that will store any sort of file?

Is it for three years or what?

Once set up can I access it as many times as I want?

Or is it sealed for a periodd of time?

In my expereince in selling anything you need to make it absolutely clear what is on offer; to do that you need to say it in very simple terms so the punters can understand. If you assume that they will understand thatn you make an ass out of u and me.
