Where are my Heated Seats?

OK, so its the first chilly morning with ice on the screen, so I reach for the heated seat button for my delicate gluteus maximus. But, there is none!

I must have the only 8 Series without heated seats! and this was a £77K car in 1994......

The wife will not be happy

You're not likely to find heated seats in a CSi. The splendidly body hugging M-sports seats fitted to the CSi weren't available with bum warmers! Can't say I've ever missed 'em, meself. I'm too busy scrabbling for adhesion with cold tyres to notice!
The only compensation is that you can massage your thighs with the extending front support.....

So, when are we having an 8 meet then?

Those seats were available with heating (option 494). My last 840Ci Sport (now owned by 'Hemibum') had sports seats with heating. None of my others have had them though.

What I find even more astonishing on E31s given their original price was that they didn't come with cruise control as standard! It was a near £500 option! Again, Hemibum's has it...none of my others have had it!

Had mine MOT'd today.

Not content with passing it with no advisories....the MOT tester then proceeded to take photographs of it for his collection!

As I understand it, there are no UK 850CSi's with heated seats. I knew that a number of 840 sports certainly had them but they don't really count
Likewise, no 850CSi's have lumbar support. That wasn't even listed as an option. BMW obviously thought that if you are fit and alert enough to handle a CSi then your back should be ok! The seats really are a superb design.

The e31's were produced in the days when BMW were still listing a radio as an expensive option on a lot of their models. Cruise control would certainly not be included. Both of my 850's have cruise, thank goodness. Its a licence saver in such a deceptive cruiser. I think it was standard on the CSi. Many items that were optional on other models were included in the CSi, as it was the 'flagship' of the range. 'Included' is a relative term, obviously. The CSi was so damned expensive anyway it should've come with its own chauffeur!

I certainly agree with the need to be 'fit and alert to drive a CSi' - I need to try harder at the gym, its a bit of a beast!
The sensation of cruise on a manual is a bit odd, just doesn't feel 'right'......

I may be wrong...but these look suspiciously like heated seat buttons to me? I mean I can count two of them off as ASC and an electric rear bind...but the others?
